YES!!! Awesome. or wait.... does this mean you are all consumed emotionally, physically, spiritually to getting the place, and you are now beyond help?

EDIT: clearly i missed the earlier by moments post. CONGRATULATIONS. Once you take possession of the precious, and transfer all assets over, will you be offering tours of the ....ummm lets call it the warehouse of all parts? I'm thinking next time I swing through California on a work junket tour of telecom/data center facilities.

Actually, Rob, your first paragraph is pretty accurate. My wife and I both. It looked like we had lost it last night, and I was pretty upset. It's of course imprudent to let your emotions get the better of you in a business deal, but this is a better home for my family and most importantly Ben's formative years. And I felt it slipping through my fingers last night. It's been a brutally emotional 18 months for me for many reasons. I feel as though this deal is like finally getting the aircraft carrier turned around and clarifying the future.

And yes, it would be an honor to have you install the communications nerve center in my new undisclosed location.:spy:

buying just in time before the dam gets its new spillway; one of the forward thinking locations updating the facility to the more current climatic change in the cycles of more severe rainfall events.

As for the comms room, yes a dedicated 10Gb/s fiber feed from perhaps Intel's facility shouldn't cause to many eyebrows to raise, while I research an alternate redundant diverse path to another access point nearby. Geothermal cooling for the equipment, solar or genset backup power to two battery banks feeding power to the equipment, see if we can intercept a microwave link, or at the very least your own RF repeater station, I'm thinking the dam shouldn't notice a couple of extra antennas anchored to the dam as a 'monitoring station' with a VHF digipeater tracking the position of all your valuable assets, maybe a remote tunable HF unit so you can listen in on ships, fed back to your place via UHF with a simple narrow focus helical antenna, all powered by a compact peltier turbine inserted into the outflow current underwater. Alas I may have said too much.

EDIT: for real though you should have Fiber to the Home (FTTH) access in your area, with AT&T, and Consolidated Communications as available providers.

Consolidated Communications is garbage. Go with AT&T, we got stuck using CC for 5 years as it was our only non satellite option at our last house. Terrible service always goes down.

    1. This location is several hundred feet above the river floodplain. It will be comforting to not be relying upon levees as fake global warming begins taking its toll on already aging infrastructure.

    2. :violent:

    3. I have Consolidated FIOS where I am now, but they aren't out there. The new place has an AT&T box. Partial telecommuting is a large part of this deal, so I'll be getting the biggest pipe I can.

LOL. Thanks, but I am done moving shit myself. Hiring movers. Except for my tools. I may rent a stakebed with a liftgate for that.
