    Yep I got the graphite!

Last night I polished the inside of Jacobs wheels with a pipe cleaner and toothpaste, the outside of his wheels on and scrubbing sponge with toothpaste and I polished the axles (nails) with some wet 600 grit sandpaper. Rules are pretty strict on wheels and weight. Can't do much to them

I'm also going to run a car and there are no rules for the adults except for that it can't ruin the track or have fire. I wish I had more time to build it. I'd make one out of 100% lead or figure out a way to have a CO2 cartridge propel it. Lol. Instead I just sanded the wheels and I'll have it follow the weight rules to see what difference it makes

    Yes it is
I'm not exactly sure. We just started Jacob this year and he's 7 but the youngest ones are maybe 5?

Yes riding on 3 wheels is allowed but no sanding the wheels for the kids. I sanded mine with 120, 250, then 600 grit and followed that up with the toothpaste on a scrubbing sponge to polish them up.

Also all the stock axles are slightly bent already  so I will be having them camber in on the rear and out on the 1 front wheel that touches. Next year I am going to go all out and get some degreed axles and special lathed or lighter wheels and everything for my car (all illegal for the kids cars). Lol

I keep one of these strapped in the bed of my truck. It's got my hand tools, sweatshirt, tow chain, shackles, jumpers, zip ties, duct tape, a hatchet, a quart of oil and a small folding shovel in there.
    http://www.homedepot.com/p/HDX-27-Gal-Storage-Tote-in-Black-5-Pack-HDX27GONLINE-5/206126311?cm_mmc=SEM|THD|G|0|G-PLA-BT3-HDX-D59-Decor|&gclid=CJri3OHbutICFU8bgQod0lEPpg&gclsrc=aw.ds

I didn't pay anywhere near $55 for mine either. It's handy because you can lock it and the holes in the lid make it easy to attach a strap to it.
I would avoid this if possible. It will remove the chrome, yes, but also makes adhesion a challenge for whatever you're coating it with. I'd just sand it off, prime and paint.
    :worthless:

Got any pics of the completed kit car?

So I'm thinking sand it down with coarse sand paper then prime and paint it. Shouldn't be too hard. Do I need to sand off the chrome entirely? Or just rough it up enough for adhesion?

Not yet. I haven't even cut the car body yet because as you know the tool was broken. Cutting, drilling, gluing in weights and painting all being done tonight. Jacobs car will be a simple wedge (like a doorstopper) design so it will be easy for him to sand and mine will be about the same with a couple of different cuts inwards (just for the look of it).

Example of what Jacobs should look like

Example of what mine might look like but without the stripes (ain't got no time for dat!)

I'm just gonna do a 45* bevel up on the front of each of our cars but I'm gonna keep this in mind for next year

Go get a bunch of fishing weights and melt them down in a crappy cast iron pot, then dip the whole thing in molten lead.

I already have tungsten weights. I will probably do this next year for mine though. Make a shell out of pine and fill it with lead. Lol

You will get multiple opinions/experiences on this. Personally, I just rough it up enough for adhesion and spray it.
