All the offroad hard core folks run ford 9"s.

A landcrusier 9.5 or tundra 10.5 wouldn't be bad though.

Need to pump my brakes for a sec. It say it's a 31 spline shaft and the tundra is a 30 spline. Isn't the hubs machined to the shafts? Wouldn't I have to replace the shafts too to switch the hubs?

No hubs to swap on a semi float 9".

Currie, moser, G2, ect sells complete shafts to match that axle and your bolt pattern.

Imo not a great buy at that price. The case isn't anything special, same with the housing. As those are the only parts that will be reused. That should be a big bearing housing, got to measure the bolt pattern to confirm.

Ray, build your Tundra axle for now as your third drops in. Will work with links unless your wanting to go wider.

Ok. I'm already going wider with the tundra housing. That housing is close to the width I'm looking for. Plus adding a 9" to the rear. I really don't much about rear ends that's why I threw it up here. To get opinions.

As of now I only have a tundra housing and my 8.4 diff. I'll would still end up spending 300-350 for complete used OEM axle shafts for the rear from Jim's. Plus whatever for little odds and ends. I won't have to regear.

So I would have to see if @thefatkid could do a 9" regear and convert it to a posi from a non posi too. Also get a extended yoke plus all the brakes parts. It adds up. I just wondering if the 9" would be worth the money, time and effort.....

I just want to make the smart choice. Maybe sticking with my current route might be the smart choice to save the cash that can go towards shocks or parts for links.... decisions.....

Trail gear make chromoly replacement shafts?

You'll spend more than that for 31 spline 6 lug 9" shafts to go in that Bronco housing. Then the re gear, arb locker, bearings, brakes. 9" is worth it but IMO not that one. Stay the course with the Tundra and save up and go with a fab housing, nodular third, 35 spline 9" later.

Ok. Good advice and good points. I'll do that. I'll stay with the tundra housing and setup.
