Roof rack for kayaks

    Ok, so im all over the place right now. Need some reeling in.

    I am torn between an oem roof rack or an aftermarket roof rack to haul 2 - 40lb 8' kayaks.
    I want folding J's and pretty much have those ironed out.

    The consensus is pretty split from what ive been researching and ive seen all sorts of photos, etc

    Im not interested in a bed extender or anything.

    Rhino rack, thule, yakima or OEM.

    Is anyone a bad decision? are all of the "naked roof" universal racks direct clamp on install and good to go right out of the box?

    Im not opposed to going the ebay route for lightly used ones either. Just dont want to regret my choice.

    No, I think it comes down to personal preference across the options you list. The OEM racks look best IMO and has a load capacity of 100 lbs.

    I have the OEM and use two folding sets of malone J's. Works great for me but i did need longer bolts.

    Other than the color fading on them they work great! Long highway trips and all

    I have the Malone's on my bed cap, love the set up, holds my canoe very strong, this year i'm adding a Kayak to the mix along with the canoe

    Any issues with the OEM being so close together carrying the kayaks? Are they pretty solid?

    I have the oem roof rack with two sets of folding jay cradles from packem racks. I bought the stainless steel ones and never had any problems
