Honestly my goals are just to not be so damn weak anymore. I'd like to get back up to benching my body weight 10+ times at least for now. (175lbs) I literally just got the weights last week and the bench assembled today. Hopefully I can get a few hours a week in a get a little more active in this "fitness" thread.

    It IS a competition 100%.

Not very, especially for men as we tend to be the leanest in our arms, shoulders, chest, upper body and that's where the pulses are going/returning from on those things. Women are the opposite since they tend to hold fat in their chest and arms. So with those things you usually get a lower reading for men and a higher reading for women. Just google images of bf% and compare it to yourself. Much more accurate than any home test :notsure:

Yeah, good plan. I personally like building off 10 rep PRs rather than 1 rep PRs. Somebody else might be able to chime in more, but isn't the most strength built in the 8rep to 4rep range?

Absolute strength (1 rep) is in the 1-3 range. Strength is 3-6 range, and hypertropthy is 6+....then you get to cardio when you're doing more than 10. Pointless. 6 is the best for both hypertrophy and strength gainz. Stronglifts 5x5 is a great program to follow but if you just wing it shoot for sets of 6 and you'll be fine.

Awesome advice. There's no chance I'll be doing 1 rep max any time soon (or ever). I'll try to stick with 5-8 reps to at least build some muscle.
I also bought the bench and rack separate so I can do some squats, shoulder, and dead lifts. Just looking to gain some strength everywhere. Nothing crazy.

Except if you also do cardio to lose weight, such as I do having been morbidly obese my whole life. Then you get called a pussy and chased out like I was. :(

Anyone have some knee sleeves they recommend?

I am building my squat back up and now that I am getting into relatively heavier weight I want to be sure to avoid injury and sometimes my knees feel a bit strange... not pain so to say but just not right.

Might be better with wraps instead of sleeves. They'll provide more support

I know I've posted this before a long time ago and I apologize for doing it again but I need belt recommendations. It's time for a new one but it seems like most stores only have the nylon types.

Gonna pull a Zach multi quote. Because fuck you that's why.

    Loved that show

    Really? Not here. Definitely dexter-ish.

    LIES! It's all a competition. But...you trout fish...so...you're cool.

Usually not at all. The one at my gym usually says I'm like 4% or just won't read.

300 might be plenty for you. Pussy. JK, <3 U.

We agreed on all that. #swolemates

This ^. 1-3 reps for strength. Anything over 3 reps is cardio, and ain't nobody got time for that.

(JK I do cardio every day. Because fuck you that's why.)

I have wraps and they're great for support, but I have to take them off after every set because they'll cut the circulation off from my legs and then they'll fall off. Just bought some sleeves and they're good. I got Rehband like the Azn Forrest Gump recommended

    VVV

    Yes.

If I am getting into heavier weight, I personally don't like Velcro. Anything with pin/holes for me.

You just gotta get in the mind set minus a few of us you will probably never meet any of the people in this thread so shit talking really doesn't matter. And the ones you do meet. When they give you shit it's because they are just doing that giving you shit. I do cardio and it's all good.

Anyone who does cardio is a bitch. I called your moms. They confirmed. Said they birthed little bitches and actually tell their friends they have daughters
