Sorry not really into Twilight. Is that a scene from the movie or am I just completely missing the joke?

I'm running the All-Pro flip kit. You can modify your stock bump stops to work. I welded them to the top of the new spring plate then bolted a universal energy suspension bumstop to where the stock bumpstop strikes then cut the stock bumpstop to get the uptravel I wanted.
For shocks I'm running 10" travel Bilsteins that came with the All-Pro 3" springs I have and welded the mounts flush to the bottom of the axle. It's been a while since I installed all of it but think the shocks ended up being almost in the stock location maybe an inch lower which helps some.

Conflicted on how to deal with this. Part of me wants to buy all the rattlecan Walmart stocks and change the color of my truck immediately due to the Twilight reference. The other part of me acknowledges that Id do her in a heartbeat and that my (and her truck) have nothing to do with twilight.

Thank you for all the info, but I don't like the shock location due to ground clearance. I appreciate the time and effort you put into your response. Thank you

If all you do is slow crawling, cheap bumpstops will work. High-performance ones (as good as they get without hydraulic bumps) tend to be pricey, but they work with the U-bolt flip kit: [IMG]

Do the u bolt flip, its a cheap and easy mod thats one less thing to get hung up on. here: http://www.ruffstuffspecialties.com...t_Code=R2121&Category_Code=toyotaminitaco4run

You can also order new bump stops through them and you should not need new shocks, you can compensate for length anyway by the location of you shock mount. You will also need to toss some washers in the upper shock mount to move the shock over a bit as it wont be aligned with the lower shock mount anymore. Search theres a ton of writeups on that.

First I'm agreeing with @tan4x4 you don't need these. Especially if you don't have sliders. But whatever.

I used the ruffstuff kit when I did my Chevy 63" spring conversion. Beefy kit.

Not sure how much you've actually wheeled before, but the axle clamp plates are not subject to much traffic underneath. Without doing your due diligence relocating shocks is a bit of work too, have to cycle you pack with just the main leaf to find your max and min lengths for shocks and then build an upper crossmember for the shocks and weld new tabs to the axle. Why not just use it for a bit, get a feel for it and when you're ready to buy new fully adjustable suspension components you can work out if you also want to fix the rear mounts. Really I've never scraped the lower mount and while there are plenty of good reasons to flip the u bolts and relocate the shocks, you haven't indicated any of them affect you yet.

You are correct in assuming I'm a novice. But what I don't want is to be the guy who holds up a group or even people behind me because I'm underprepared. This will be my first season, but i plan on doing as much as i can. Sliders will be ordered today. Skids will be made soon. I am a technician (diesel) so I do understand how suspension works and the importance of the geometry. I also understand ill have to find where I want to mount my shocks, stuff one tire and full flex the other to figure out my shock length requirements. I just assume people on this forum have done it before and was wondering if theyd impart their experience on me before I make the same mistake someone else has already made.

If you are traveling with a good group of folks I doubt anyone would fault you for a little hangup and doubtless there is someone in the group who is eager to try a piece of recovery gear they bought. Its a team activity really :)

You're overthinking this! We got a guy with a 1st Gen in the group I wheel with sometimes. He's on KO2 285's, maybe 1 1/2" lift, and he goes everywhere the people on 35's and rocking Kings and lockers go. And he is OPEN diff. 1st gens were tough. Don't underestimate it before throwing a bunch of money at it.

So armor up and wheel it? It's just also my dd and I'd rather be overbuilt than break something
