Losing coolant can't find the leak

Here's what mine was doing.......not-so-secret project going on behind the pulley

 

Its not overheating at all...now today it wont start just cranks and cranks but its dont fire up

 

The truck is throwing a bank2 knock sensor and a temp coolant sensor neither of wich would stop it from running...as far as I know just frustrating just got the pressure tester and now it wont run hahaha

 

That's gotta be the slowest drip out of the weep hole on a water pump I've ever seen, to be able to build up like that. Or I haven't seen very many water pumps weeping.

 

Won't a bad knock sensor keep it from firing up?

 

Maybe it's a different sensor that keeps it from firing up, I don't memba off hand.

 

If oil is leaking into cooling system, it might not show 'steam cleaned' plugs. But if coolant is leaking into the cylinder, yeah definitely would.

Rodents have that effect as well. Hope I'm wrong

Rodents are attracted to wiring insulation. Knock sensor harness is on the menu. Just sayin.

 

But would a knock sensor stop it from running..i know it retards the timing when its in limp mode but it should still run right?

 

Granted you seem to be leaking a fair volume but there is one spot not yet mentioned.
A leak at the "coolant bypass tube" where it bolts to the block can leak and go undetected. The forward tube flange is sealed with RTV, no gasket or o-ring. It can leak and puddle under the intake between the heads. Many times the coolant cooks off at a faster rate than the leak. A bad leak will trickle down the back of the block from a sheet metal plate that is difficult to see, until it's bad enough to drip to the ground.
It's a bunch of work for a little smear of sealant.

Well i finally got something....the timing belt jumped and it looks like the waterpump might be my problem

 

Thanks Dirty Pool i will remember to address that when change the knock sensor out

 

If your knock sensor is bad it will go into limp mode. Could be wiring. Wonder how the timing belt skipped? That's not common. Maybe switch to that Toyota red coolant. Not that it's a need, the 3.4 just likes it

 

I was losing coolant for the last month. Ended up being the radiator. The way I found out was because I added some head gasket sealer thinking it was a head gasket. I noticed residue around the tank/rad interface at the top of the radiator. Replaced hoses and thermostat at the same time.

 

Well this is my new update....the cam bolt on the driver side broke off..my tech thinks it happened because of a bad power steering pump

 

Why does he think that? I don't get the correlation between the 2.

 

He told me he had come across this before while at a Toyota shop a few years ago...all the belts have been shaved down even the timing belt is smoothed out...and the pump wont budge..Do you think it could be something else?
