Tire size still affects the auto speedo. Changing gear ratios does not.

 

Hypertech calibrator ordered! Tire size and/or gear ratio will affect the manuals though because the speed sensor is in the transfer case

 

What is causing my rear end to rise when i have my foot on the brake and I shift from Park to Drive?

 

torque from the motor..be odd to axle wrap just from that..

 

I only have the rear tac'd up and there are no shocks, or hardly any weight in the rear. 12" shackles and Deaver 70 springs. I just wanted to test drive it real slow before I welded it all up. I wasn't expecting the rear to rise so much when I put it in drive.

 

With 35s I'm off 5Mph per GPS.

 

Is this one of those 9" that would work for 1st gens? But how would I convert it to 6 lug for tacoma?

Yes. Just swap the hubs out.

 

That will work, WMS is 65.25 on those, same with 73-86 F150 pickup, and should be 31 spline with big bearing ends on the housing. Those have a centered diff which means the axles are unequal, so if you wanted spares you need one of each. FYI the van, 77-86 E150 is 69" WMS and has the diff offset to one side which makes the axles equal, also 31 spline and big bearing ends. Easiest place to find one is use car-part.com

To convert to 6 lug its a little more involved that just getting hubs. You will need new axle shafts drilled to 6 lug, can get them from currie or moser and probably a few others, 6 lug chevy will fit Toyota aftermarket wheels. Then you need disc brakes for a 6 lug, the ford brakes will no longer fit. Chevy k1500 1/2 ton 4wd front rotors will fit those new 6 lug axles, then a 1982 monte carlo front caliper fits that disc and there are tons of companies that make a bracket for monte carlo style calipers that will weld right to the 9" housing. Then you have to fit your brake lines and convert from toyota on one end and chevy on the other. There are disc brake conversion kits but they cost $3-400, using the chevy brakes should be around $150 to convert

No such thing as too many, in my opinion too many LT brand new trucks with not enough miles.

That's if you're actually going to use the LT. There are some mall crawlers on here riding on 20 grand of suspension. Personal choices, I guess.

 

Got some new tars on the taco. Got rid of my trashed toyos.
