I would start by checking starter relay and double-checking all connections to your battery for crap, looseness, etc.. Maybe also get some electrical contact cleaner?

I would start by throwing out that code reader. A p1500 has nothing to do with your starter. Per Toyota diagnostics, a P1500 is for voltage inverter performance, which has to do with your 110V power inverter.

P1500 code failure description and operation:
When the engine is idling, the ECM performs idle-up according to the power supply of the inverter in order to stabilize the engine idling speed. When the vehicle is stationary and the inverter output exceeds 8.3 amps, the inverter sends an ide-up signal from the OUT terminal of the inverter to the ELS2 terminal of the ECM.
If the idle -up signal is input to the ECM for 10 seconds while the vehicle is running, the ECM interprets this as a malfunction in the inverter circuit and sets the DTC.

Holy crap! Thank you... I just installed a heater in the canopy of my truck for my dog, so she doesn't get chilled in - degrees. And this code popped up twice only AFTER installing the heater.

Sorry for digging up this old thread, but thank you again!!

Sorry for digging up this thread 5 years later, but I just got this code about 2 months ago, and I have not changed a thing in my truck. Why would it randomly pop up?

Components can fail for a number of reasons. Even just internal failures. Best bet is to follow diagnostic procedures for the code to see what is going on.
