i had the truck about a week, bought the truck as a demo with 1000 mile.i noticed the bumper has a bunch of rust specs.i hope the dealer will do something about it---like replace it,
another thing i found which really isnt a major thing but has me thinking about thier quality control issues.
the tires on it are directional, and both drivers side tires are on backwards, the treads are collecting water and not makeing them flow outwards.it just has me wondering what else could be found if i went over this truck,or worse yet,if someone didnt take the time to put the tires on right, what else could someone have overlooked or not cared about.
i am calling dealer tommorrow,i will express some dissatisfation on simple quality oversight, but the bumper has me pissed
is there anyway to track what was sent from the factory on the vehicle, like tires.

Why would the tires be directional?? What model truck do you have and what tires are on it? Post some pictures. I had a few quality issues with mine, the dealer cleared them all up as I pointed them out.

Aftermarket tires? If so, the next question is why were they replaced? And I would not want to even think about the answer to that one.

I suggest having someone from a body shop (not at the dealer) inspect the truck for possible evidence of crash repairs.

    Good luck!

the tires have a arrow that point in direction of travel, the grooves then(tread pattern)wash water outward away from the tire center to prevent hydroplaning.if they are put on wrong the will push water inward towards the tire center.

Never crossed my mind on a new truck, could be right.
I was thinking of the Dunlops or BFG's

how large are the rust specs? I don't have the chrome bumper, but I think that can be caused by brake dust/particles getting on the bumper. They usually come off. Post pics if you can.

i am trying to get pics from phone to email to post.i did rub on them and they seem to come off,but i have never had a bumper ever do this.i would think brake dust would be non metallic and even if it was why isnt it over the bed, bodypanel.?

A lot of dealers put custom wheels/tires ect on to help sell the vehicle to make it look cooler ect... it's pretty common. Honestly, the stock tires all suck anyway, I had mine gone as soon as I had the cash.

As for the rust... the dealer should take care of it. Just make sure to keep it washed up and salt off it from roads in the winter... doesn't matter how old it is... that stuff is brutal.

My bumper had what looked like contact cement all over it, not sure what that was about. I pointed it out to the dealer a couple of times when I was there and they always forgot to look at it. I took chrome polish to it, all is good now.

My rear bumper is starting to look a little like that. Mostly on the leading edge. Mine is a '10 with less than 3,000 miles. Started noticing it with less than 1,000 miles. I plan on keeping an eye on it and saying something to the dealership when I take it in for my first oil change.

The pics help. That's a lot more than I had in mind. It's worth having the dealer look at I'd say.

its all over the sides,i noticed it when they got dirty, figures, like the one pic, both sides are spotted about 12"in and then its like the other pic, more like a blotch.
i am very bad when it comes to talking when someones dick is in my ass, thats what i feel right now.i hope they will replace it.i dont want a promise,or a--well we will wait and see.looks like the local news may get a few pics.
as for the tires, after looking at them head on,they have a flow both ways, seems kinda dumb though, but i see now how they aint directional.they do suck and need replaced,i guess i would need 5 tires, one for the spare.

Noticed the same "rust" spots on the right side of my bumper 2 days ago...similar reaction, sprayed a little cleaner on a cloth and wiped it down, then scrubbed the peedinkles out of it and she looks brand new...don't think it's rust, twasn't on mine...

Every chrome bumper I have ever owned back East has gotten rust specks on it. It's normal. You can remove them by using chrome polish on a regular basis. Eventually in a few years those rust specks will turn into little pits in the chrome. If you want to prevent the rust from forming again you can spray the bumper with a clear coat spray like Krylon or Rustolem. Yes the clear paint will stick to the surface without sanding. Make sure you clean the bumper with chrome cleaner followed up with something like DuPont Prep Sol solvent. I have sprayed chrome bumpers in the past with clear enamel. It came out good and it never rusted again. The clear paint did not peel or flake off ever.
