ECGS Bushing Time?

I'm gonna give it another go...but feel like I should just exchange out my cv "incase"...don't wanna have to do this again for a LONG time

 

How many miles do most people get out of their CVs? I'd like to reuse the CV since there's no leaks or torn boots anywhere with 88k mi. I even thought about just being careful and seeing if I can reuse the current seal since it's not leaking, but knowing my luck, it'll start after I replace it.

 

You need to inspect the cv axl when you remove it. It could be fine, or could need to be replaced.
Replacing the seal at 90k - for sure replace it . I just did the ecgs bushing and my truck has 41k- cheap insurance.

Replace the seal for sure.
Its the fact that the worn bearing puts a groove on the cv...only way to check is to remove it

 

So if there's a wear ring on the axle shaft from it drooping, best to replace? Or only if it's worn really bad?

 

I just had 5100s installed and have this same vibrating rumble strip sound. I have it at town speeds and it disappears around 60 mph. Is it an expensive fix?

 

Best I can tell, the ECGS bushing is about $60, plus the seal (a few bucks), possibly CV axle (haven't checked yet how much), and then the needle bearing removal tool is like $60 (frequently sold and resold here on TW).

 

I got the bushing and OEM seal on order. At 120k at the moment. Hopefully CV is still good.

If your getting the rumble strip vibes, ecgs bushing will fix it , I was quoted 380 for install from a local 4x4 shop. Bushing, removal tool, drain and fill diff, new seal, something to drive the bushing. Mechanic found a damaged wheel bearing seal, fixed that too.

 

Have tool, bushing and seals.. all this talk no one wants to jump!
