There's 6 bolts, undone them, placed the new box in. It hung up a bit at first, it fits tight, checked under the truck to ensure it had space and forced it in a little.

The bottom three bolts were challenging especially the center bottom bolt, I hand tightened it and then finished with plyers.

There's weather stripping that needs to be applied after its mounted. That took me a minute to figure out how to do as it doesn't go into specifics in the instructions.

I know people have talked about these things rusting a bit. I would have hit it with some anti rust stuff but I can still access the bottom of the box under the truck.

I like the additional space though!

It goes deeper into the side well if the truck. Essentially doubling the storage space.

I literally just installed it. It's 16 gauge steel and has a 10 tumbler lock on it. There's weather stripping you apply so essentially is should be tight. I mean it would be safe to transport a firearm in there but I wouldn't leave one in there at all times. The door locks over the bolts so it's pretty safe. I'm not sure what I plan on using it for yet.

Someone opened their door and did this at the gym. Walked out to it.

Went to Toyota in orange Ca and they said I have to purchase the complete set up at $444. It's a 6 inch plastic peice that snaps of and I have to buy the complete housing with gears and all WTF! It's not even color matched.

This part should be sold separate and parts is stating that's not the case.

Getting over replacing little things on this truck like this part that should cost no more than $50.

Honestly I didn't drive the truck long enough before getting the tires to record an avg mpg so not sure. That being said I haven't seen anything above 17 since getting the truck, so. Not great but tires are too good looking to care.

Changed the oil with Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy 0W20 at 2300 miles. I trust the engineers on most things and I know the 0w20 is what they say to use but man that stuff is like water. I will be changing again at 5k then Toyota will at 10k so I will change oil at 5k intervals.

The metal particles were very, very small almost like powder. Nothing I'm concerned about but don't want this floating around and grinding shit up for 5k.

If it was me I would get the part and go back too the dealer and call them out on there bullshit!

Toyota wonders why they're getting a bad reputation with dealers.....

Rather harsh. I'm sure it's $40 for the part and $400 for labor. Maybe :)
