Another factor is the wheel width.
Wide (aka - deep dish) wheels may look cool, but you're more likely to lose a bead at low pressures.

 

I was on 8 psi the whole time when we were on MET two weeks ago.

 

I ran 10psi the whole time. It was a blast.

 

I didn't choose my wheels for aesthetics. They were the only ones I could find with the right backspacing and width. 16x8s with 4" BS. Now given it's a 8" wide rim and my tires are 11.2" wide, that should mean I have less of a chance to lose the bead right?

No problem. Glad you had a great time. I only mentioned it because I'd been up there before, and I saw the group that made it through earlier this year. I am often available for Sundays though. Just depends on family stuff. My wife will go to the gym for two hours, but finds no value in shoveling snow. Go figure.

Not a whole lot to report. Fresh snow so great traction. Only two rigs got stuck and that's because they were playing around. Funny thing is it wasn't either of the stock vehicles that went with us. There were times where we could only see 20-30 Ft ahead or less due to snow coming down. Uncle toms was cool, I hadn't ever been there before. There were many a snow-drifts and snow-nuts

As much as id like to try to make you feel better and say, no it really wasn't that good, I can't. It was perfect apart from the low visibility

I would like to plan a trip for next weekend if anyone wants to go. Anywhere really, MET, UTC, etc. My moms going under he knife at the end of the month and wants to see some snow before

 

Maybe sunday. I go in for back surgery the 16th and this will prob be my last snow run

What kind of back surgery are you having? I went through back surgery in 2010. I had spinal fusion across 3 vertebrae. After I recovered (which was a long road) I felt 10 years younger.

 

Its a sciatic joint fusion...i think thats what its called

They will be doing my right side sciatic nerves. The left will be later. I hope i feel 18 again. Ill be unstoppable. ..lol
