For years people have made big brake kits for the 5 lug first gen tacomas but no one has ever offered much info or has used all custom parts that cost an arm and a leg. My goal with this was to find stuff that can easily be obtained at a decent price and share all the information i gathered openly. By pure chance i found these calipers that line up perfectly with the stock spindles. Hope this can help some people out. Also this will require a minimum 17" wheel. It will also depend on width and offset as well. My 17x9 +35 enkei rpf1s cleared with no issues.

Here are all the parts i used. I have yet to confirm that the brake lines will work for this application. So if buying these parts please wait until i confirm that they work properly.

Disclaimer: the price of the calipers fluctuates regularly. The prices i have listed below are what i paid at the time i purchased them. You may have to wait for the price to drop to get the best deal.

As stated in the title the calipers mount directly to the stock mounting location on the stock 95-04 tacoma spindle. BUT the holes will need to be drilled out with a 9/16 drill bit to accept the larger bolt (14x2.0 x 35mm) that the caliper uses and slightly shimmed out to align it with the rotor. (0.13in or 3.3mm) washer inside to shim the caliper and (0.11in or 2.7mm) washer on the outside to stop the bolt from hitting the rotor.

    Hardware list.

    (4) M14 x 2.0 x 35 mm bolts
    (4) M14 washers 2.5 mm thick (they go between the bolt head and knuckle)
    (8) 9/16 washers 2 mm thick(each) (they go between the knuckle and caliper)

    20170215_175420.jpg

For the rotors (Evo 9 Front 12.6") those will need to be machined to fit the tacoma hub assembly. The center bore needs to be bored out to the same size as the stock rotors and the mounting holes drilled and tapped to accept the stock hardware used to mount the hubs. I have attached a picture showing the modifications made.

    received_10206107690810739.jpg

With some creative routing the brake lines work perfectly.

Yoooo whats up CJ! Been a while lol yeah man big brakes are super hard to find information on and they're either no longer sold or super expensive. I wanted to get all the information out there to help out as many people as possible. Glad this has been useful for you!

I also posted this on ct too haha but i figures there would be more traffic here.

Been a long while! Hell i left SD over 2 years ago for a job in Portland.

Thats funny you posted on CT, i was wondering if it was dead completely. Been thinking a lot about some boost and that place was obviously the best resource for us 5luggers.

Look forward to hearing how well it works. Any idea how much too long the brake likes are? I am sure not long enough for me but I can dream!

The lines are 22" long and looked like there was quite a lot of slack on jose's install but i actually need longer lines too. Mine looked a bit stretched at my ride height lol

    Finally finished the Brembo install!

The lines did work and everything feels fine. Here are some pictures of the completed install.

Here is a picture of the caliper mounted to the spindle with no bracket. The holes on the spindle need to be drilled out to accept the larger bolt and the caliper is shimmed out a few mm to line it up with the rotor.

Looks good. Great job! Did you notice much pedal difference do to larger piston area and fluid need to move caliper pistons?

Pedal feels like stock under normal driving conditions. Really wont be able to tell a difference until more spirited driving

Do you know the master cylinder bore size for the 5 lug? It should be casted on the master cylinder. Easy to see it.

Mine is casted right on the top pretty large 7/8ths That may not be it on yours. But it could be.
