Is there a way to identify whether or not I have stock or aftermarket leafs? Here is a picture of what I have. I bought the truck used btw, these were on it when I bought it.

I posted this in the suspension area but I had no response.

looks like what Toyota just put on mine not long ago when they did the recall. but that's not to say they aren't an oem style aftermarket replacement. not sure how one would tell.

You have 1 more leaf than my 2008 did when it was stock. I never took advantage of the TSB to replace the springs, I just added an add a leaf.

If those are stock TSB springs, there is a recall thread around here somewhere that you may want to look at just for reference.

Thanks for the info, I have checked out that thread and I have more leafs than the stock TSB springs, if I read it correctly.

According to a Vin check through Toyota my truck hasn't had the TSB fix. I was just curious if some of the smart people on TW could tell me if I stock or not.

    Some
stock non tsb springs are 2+1 and the tsb ones are 3+1. it looks like you have the tsb spring or they have an AAL in them. from the looks of it they have been on there for some time

hahaha I was just joking around haha

btw I also bought my truck used, so the 3+1's that were on my truck when I bought it may have been put on there by the PO. I ran my vin as you did and it came up that the recall had not been done, so I figured, cant hurt to get new springs haha plus when I go to add my AAL, nice fresh hardware is a lot easier to work with

As I'm the third owner of the truck and can't find much in the original equipment, I have concluded that my truck was a base SR5 that has had the towing package added as well as the TRD Off road package minus the locker added. But I'm not sure of anything really.

Very good point about new hardware, I may just go ahead and let them swap them out.

If you don't have the locker you don't have the TRD offroad package

This is true. From my research Toyota didn't offer Impulse Red Pearl Double Cab Long Bed with the off road package but some of the things that came with the off road package has been installed from what I can gather through my research.

I like your style man, tip my hat to. "I posted this in the suspension area but I had no response.[/QUOTE]" you don't take an ignored posting good enough.
I am sure for my next suggestion, run for office man, you'll gone succeed.

What you are looking at there is a FACTORY/OEM 4-leaf pack with a manufacturing date PRIOR to OCTOBER 2010.
In the US, some may regard this as a "TSB" leaf pack, which was often used as an UPGRADE for the 3-leaf pack that most there shipped with. In Canada, ALL 4x4/prerunner units shipped with those until October 2010.

THERE IS A RECALL FOR THAT LEAF PACK!

The way you can tell if your leaf pack is under recall:
Count the LEAF RETENTION CLIPS. That one has THREE. Two visible on the LEFT side (of the picture), and ONE visible on the right (mostly hidden by the exhaust pipe. The POST-RECALL 4-leaf packs have a total of SIX retention clips, three in front of the axle, and three behind.

The 3-leaf packs have three clips pre-OCT-2010 (recalled), and four clips POST.

Basically, what the clips do, is they keep the leaves from flipping out sideways when they break. Unfortunately, the post-recall leaf springs are no less prone to breaking.
