Flagpole Knob, Harrisonburg VA spring camping trip - March 25th

Saturday night is the huge camp out on the top of the mountain!

 

I think we agreed we are camping at meadow Knob which is just down the trail from flagpole knob and has a ton of room and flat area for all our camping

 

So I just got back from riding out to the camp ground and reservoir. The camp ground has 10 camping lots, I think if done right you could easily get 2 to 3 trucks to a spot. Lot 8 is pretty large and I believe an easy 5 trucks or more could be set up in there. The camping is $5 a night. The self pay station has a posted sign saying no firearms or alcohol, so if you are planning on this its a do at your own risk. I rode up to the reservoir and there looks like there is a couple pull off spots on the up there that could be camped at, but according to a local feller that I ran into there isn't any camping allowed at the reservoir itself. He also informed me that he doesn't imagine this time of the year that there will be any issues with the campground being full unless we fill it up ourselves. The local feller also mentioned that the RANGERS and STATE POLICE patrol the area to keep things regulated, and that with all the warm weather we have been having that the bears have been out pretty heavy so to be careful. This is just an FYI.... for the statement above about alcohol and firearms. Hope this helps.

Hey guys - hoping to enact the TW EXPRESS here!

I've made a deal with a guy in Lynchburg, VA for a Softtopper and I live in Medford, NJ. I was wondering if there is anyone headed to this camping trip who is coming from or thru Lynchburg who could pickup the softopper? And then secondly, would there be someone on this camping trip who could bring it back north with them when they leave? Or at least closer to me where our North East TW Express could be utilized?

I could also, drive to Baltimore/DC area to meet someone.

As of now, I'm 95% in for the Saturday wheeling, but unfortunately probably won't be camping Saturday night due to a potential passenger needing to be home at some point in the evening. But that could always change.

 

I would love to do this! Gonna try my best to go.
