painted the shutters yesterday in one of the final efforts to get the house ready for listing on the 15th. coming up quick on us.

Anyone want to buy a house in Southern MD? 1/4 mile from the water, with private beach access.

Looks great Colin! I love the porch. I just replaced all my shutters too and once the weather breaks it'll get a fresh coat on the front door. I want to frame out and put a glass door on too.

doing windows on either side of the door, or extending the frame to have a second, class door?

yep. very southern end. I can about toss a rock and hit the houses in drum point. nice and quiet down in our little corner.

Rustoleum tractor paint, in "Ford Blue". figured if it was tough enough for a tractor, it would hold up just fine on some vinyl shutters.

Extending the frame to install a glass storm door. Currently the house only has a solid wood front door, no storm door.

very nice. we love having the glass door. no matter the weather, we rarely have the main door closed when we are home. whole bottom floor is just so much brighter with the glass door.

I had an experience with changing shutters once. When I built my house I did not opt for shutters.

I looked at these, and found they had some funny polyurethane one-time-use fastener. didn't want to screw with that, so I just masked them off and sprayed them in place.

If it doesn't sell my dad will be taking it down to the beach to enjoy it so it may still be around when you're buying

Yes. You're exactly right about that. It's a one way fastener. They are a pain to get out. On my buddy's house we cut off all the old shutters and replaced with new ones.

if we had a brick house, I wouldn't hesitate to cut the top off, and drill them out real quick, since a high speed bit isn't going to wollow out the hole in the brick. but since I don't have a brick house, i figured trying to drill out the old fastener would widen the hole, and then i wouldn't be able to get the shutters to stay in place.

We used a pair of snips and just nipped off the plastic anchor. It fell down in the siding bit who cares? No drilling required. I might have used a sawsall to get a couple off. Can't remember now. His just anchored to the siding.
