The brown house next door on the left side of the photo was the home of this family from about 1994-1996. Since this photo was taken in 1991, the original owners of the house still lived there...

A large 3-bedroom house actually on the base became available shortly before my 8th birthday, in March 1997. I was in Boy Scouts from about 1996 to 1999. My parents were the scout leaders when we lived in California, for a little than a year (1997-1998). Here's a picture of me in the kitchen of the 2nd "military house" working on my Pinewood Derby racer. I don't remember if it was 1997 or 1998. This was probably the time my dad and I both got this really tough green paint on our hands, and my dad to resort to using gasoline from the plastic tank he used to fill up the lawnmower to get the stuff off of our hands when nothing else would work...

And here I am in the living room of the tiny 2-story WWII-era house in late 1996. That computer I'm sitting in front of was brand spanking new at the time, and it was first one my family owned that had Windows (Windows 95, and that was our primary computer until 2002!)...

 

I only PM in spurts.

We moved from Virginia Beach to Oak Harbor, Washington in the summer of 2000. We made several stops at national landmarks and even spent a few days at Yellowstone. That's obviously me, my dad, and Molly. However, if you're an American citizen and don't know where we are, you should be deported:

My mom took this picture from the shotgun seat while my dad was driving (We were actually moving!). You'll notice the van is towing a UHAUL. You'll also notice I'm wearing the same shirt as in the Rushmore picture, so this was taken the same day (don't remember is before or after).

When I was in 6th grade, one of my teachers was a woman in her early 40s. I kid you not, her initials were "PMS." Her first name was Patti or Patricia, I'm not sure I ever knew her middle name, and her last name was Silviera or something. Contrary to what the initials might imply, she was not the least bit mean and in fact was one of my favorite teachers!

The Sony Trinitron was probably one of the most badass TVs ever made, and before my parents finally bought their first HDTV, the best TV we ever owned. Ours was a 32-inch model, purchased from either Circuit City or Tweeter (in Montgomeryville) in late 1995 for about $900!

I think the reason that this TV gave up the ghost in 2008 is because for 12 of the 13 years it was alive, we were moving every 2 or 3 years and it simply died of exhaustion. We always moved in the summer, and this TV spent days at a time on the back of a moving van in blazing heat, months at a time in storage (also in blazing heat), and then just simply being moved around and having it's electronic guts jostled...

After it died, my dad attempted to move it from the entertainment center. This resulted in the most epic of fails:




The temporary replacement (I forget when in 2008 these pictures were taken, but we got a 61-inch Samsung 1080p DLP TV in December 2008)...

 

One of my uncle's favorite vehicles has always been the 1992-1995 Mercedes-Benz E320 Cabriolet. He owned this beautiful white 1994 E320 from like 2009 to 2011. This vehicle sold for about $90,000 new, but he paid NOWHERE near that. It only had 40K miles on it when he bought it from the older woman who bought it new...
