I think that if running spacers, the use of deeper lugs nuts or extended lugs need to be used. I ran mine for 50k with no troubles but I always made sure they were wrenched on only with hand tools and checked them frequently

I have spare wheel spacers on that axle that Quentin has, that rear axle would also have wheel studs that should fit. If it would help at all you can grab the wheel spacers and studs

Only safe way to run spacers is to run extended studs and hub centric spacers. I run a 1 inch spacer on the front of FakeRaceCar but I also have Extended Studs and hub centric spacers. Car sees tons of time on slicks and high temps.

I was driving and the stereo would flicker on and off, then my wife and I started smelling burning plastic and smoke was coming from under the dash. I stopped and let it clear out, tried going again with the stereo off and it start smoking again. It's sitting in a Walgreens parking lot right now. I'll be headed back up there with tools to pull it all apart and try and figure it out. I pulled the AC panel off and even more smoke came out. No flames though, just nasty smoke. The previous owner had a full system in there at some point and replaced it with the stock one when he got rid of the truck, so I'm guessing it has something to do with that.
On the plus side, if the truck goes up in flames I'll probably get more from insurance than I have in it and at the very least I need a new stereo now... so... new stereo (the old one didn't even play CDs anymore)

Sure do! Pull your AC control panel out and look at the plugs. And if it is the case, I have a quick fix that works pretty well for it.

Edit: Just saw your post about after market stereo. Odds are this will be your issue.

I'd start pulling fuses to things you don't need until it stops. Odds are some guy used crimps on the stereo, wire came loose and it's grounding out/sparking. Be careful with inhaling that smoke. It's plastic and it's toxic.

What part of town are you located?

I pulled the stereo fuse, no change, the smoke comes out from the hole left by the AC pane. @phillipthetaco suggested that it may be a blower motor resistor gone bad.

That's what caused mine to smoke. Pull the AC controls off and disconnect the wires. The plug might be burnt and the issue is caused by a bad blower motor resistor. However adding a new one in won't fix the issue since the plugs are damaged. You'll have to rig the plug. It's not hard to do actually as long as it's not fully melted.

I didn't notice any damage to the AC panel. It seems to be coming from below the stereo. The stereo wiring was warm as well, also, the stereo was flickering and completely stopped working.

I sent you a PM. We could hop on a call (after this meeting ends) and talk about it real fast. Quicker to diagnose over a phone call vs TW.

I didn't want to bug you unless I really needed to. I figured it out. Previous owner didn't even crimp... just cheap electrical tape. 1488826684481.jpg

I hate people. Electrical tape in Az... Shit turns to goo in the summer months. I've actually seen a stereo shop burn down a nice car at my high school years ago thanks to electrical tape.

I don't even trust crimps anymore as I've seen those fail. But still better than tape!

If you need help with this let me know. If the wires are burnt it might be quicker/easier to make your own harness and go aftermarket HU.

I will be going on to aftermarket, so probably will need a new harness.
