A Tacoma... AT A SCRAPYARD in CALIFORNIA!?

You'd have better luck finding a Ferrari or a Porsche. Seriously. I've seen completely burned out or gutted Tacomas here sell for upwards of $1,000. I think there's like 2-4 registered Tacomas in Pick-N-Pull's entire database for the state of California. In comparison, there's almost 50 3rd gen 4Runners registered in their database.

P-n-P isn't the only game in town, wiseass. There is a "dismantlers row" about 2.5 miles from my work with three Toyota dismantlers (that I know of). They get first gens on a fairly regular basis. So, maybe get your facts straight before you start popping off.

    For example:

I have a cap and don't need the capacity of a tool box on a long-term basis. And it takes up too much precious bed space. Plus, I have other plans for cargo management that a tool box would interfere with.

I've considered the Undercover swing out tool box as a viable option, but I'd rather take advantage of existing space if the volume is adequate. I think it is.

ok damn no need to be salty I was just trying to point out that Tacomas here are rare enough let alone in junkyards. Sorry if I came off as condescending. My bad man.

Not being salty. I think that was an appropriate response to your wisecrackery. It would have been funnier if it was factually true. Plenty of Tacomas in wrecking yards around here.

    Moving on.

In retrospect, I was probably being overly sensitive. Had a friend that did nothing but talk sh!t all the time; sometimes it got personal. One of the biggest reasons he's no longer my friend. My apologies.

I've only had luck with the higher dollar dismantlers having Tacomas or even old pickups. None of the yards around here have anything Toyota other than some camrys. I live near the biggest parts yard in Washington and I've never seen a Tacoma in it. Saw a T-100 once and even that was picked over within the week. Unless they were set on fire they just never make it to the junkyard.

I see completely burned out Tacomas sell for upwards of $1,000 on DashHub. It's insane. I saw a completely totaled PreRunner covered with Biohazard stickers and the dash covered in blood sell on there for $2,500. They're especially rare in California, there's only a couple wrecking yards around here that have a decent supply of Tacomas and they sell the parts at a premium.

Premium rust free Tacoma frames 4 lyfe, yo.

I got lucky and found a source for used Taco parts online, but yeah they are coming off Insurance buybacks and it is all done by a private company. The junkyards are fickle, I do occasionally see third gen runners but you have to jump on those really fast and for the most part the junkyards want to sell the entire thing.

I still want to french in the license plate section on the rear hatch of a third gen 4 runner into my tailgate because my bumper will not be big enough to hold one.

Oh yeah. At this point I just get parts from 3rd gen 4Runners because they're super common in junkyards. I never see any 1st gen Tacomas. I see more 2nd gens than first gens. Just comes to show you how popular these trucks are.

Here's a pic of that truck I was talking about, I'll spare you the pictures of the interior. Don't think the driver walked away from it.

I looked around on eBay, looks like a tailgate will run you an average $150-$300.

Man the interior on that truck is rough. The instrument cluster was covered in blood. I have no idea what kind of accident would make a truck look like that. It's like a building dropped on it.

These with the flush mount latch would be perfect...seems a lot of 80 series land cruisers are doing them. 4cc3b7fac5e8486f7590052f613b0c70.jpg 2017-03-06-15-54-04-683367572.jpg
