I keep trying to tell people the same thing. Paying cash for something this large is just counter productive. Barring bad credit, you can invest so much better than throwing it all away just to avoid that 1-3% of interest. Did you avoid the monthly payment and does that feel good? Of course. But financially it's really not the best move.

    Eh.

Bragging about paying cash for an entry level midsize truck from a foreign automaker isn't exactly the measure of admirable finances. That's a few years of proper planning with a modest income.

I'd rather talk to the guy who pays cash for his house when home values are 10x + the median income for the area and is debt free, under 40, with nothing but assets.

Buying a Tacoma with cash is like saying you have a 5" dick. Sure, it's better than some, but not something really worth bragging about.

I have tried explaining this to people and they do not understand that if you pay it off every week you get free cash.

considering your credit score can also come down to how you use credit and credit history sometimes it can actually be better to finance for those that don't have much credit. Like anyone young you're basically starting to build your credit. Then when you go buy a house you already have some credit history to your name.

Yeah, it's called leveraging. When the banks are giving money away why pay cash when the money could be invested elsewhere and net a greater return.

Now buying a boat with 15% interest, yeah you might want to pay cash for that.

    I'm leveraged AF bro.

OP did you roll up with a duffle bag of $1 bills and make dealer count em? That would of been cool.

Dude I get like $80 a month back from my credit card.
All gas, bills and parking get me 2% back and 1% on everything else. Use it every week for my tank of gas @ $80, then phone and internet bills $12 for parking every day since I often work downtown.
Since I started using it my credit score has gone up because I'm actually utilizing my credit

okay using a simple calculator, given the loan calculator is accurate, the investment calculator is not because you don't know the results that will play in reinvesting. Also the investment calculator can't predict the future so I went back 5 years 60 months for an example.. either way you'll get an idea of what investing can do over paying off..

As I said, the investment in AAPL is purely speculative based on past performance.

I did not pay cash for a third gen.

I also don't own a third gen either.

    My post is pointless. :pout:

Yeah, we put every possible thing on our mileage card. I'd put the mortgage on it if it was allowed. Pay it off every month, get tons of miles. We've got enough to go back to Hawaii for free.

You're just making my point lol. It should be fairly obvious if you have that kind of liquidity that you probably shouldn't pay for a 40k truck with said liquidity. After about 10-12k for a depreciating "asset" such as an automobile, your money is better off doing something else for you.
