    so I could install a ball (ram mount) near my a/c controls ... what do I attach to it?

    question might seem dumb but I assume I need some kind of adapter to mount my phone there?

    This is just a way to tuck a couple of 1/4-20 holes up tightly to the dash. I'll post pics when I have better lighting but basically it will let you use any of the ram components.

    This is my first experience with the ram components but I'm sold; they are completely modular, easily adjustable , and solid.
