New gas tank.

Out with the old and in with the new. Also giving it a tune up. New plugs and new belts. Everything was easy to remove since the frame was replaced in January.

 

Curious why you're having to replace the fuel tank?

 

jammer when Toyota replaced the frame it started leaking. It had a few rust holes in it. It had some real soft metal about the size of your fist. You could push your finger through the tank.

Is that OEM, and did you get a new gas tank skid with the frame?

 

Nice. I'm going to remove mine to fix a leak around the sender gasket.

How hard was it to lift the bed? Did you need a few people to help?

 

Two average guys can lift the bed easily

Is there just 4 bolts on. Double cab box? Trying to prepare the best I can. I just got a new frame so it should come off easy.

 

Not a OME tank. I got it from Rock Auto. OME was $935 Rock Auto was $212. They did not replace the skid when they did the frame.

 

$935+?. That's nuts. If it came down to only that price and availability for a OEM tank,,I would put a RCI fuel cell in the bed instead. Save myself $835.

 

That's pretty steep. How's the rock auto tank look and feel? Do you think it will hold up? I may need a tank also. I have seen OEM tanks on eBay for less than half of the quote you got, but that's still pretty steep.

When they replaced the frame on my old 2001, they also replaced the gas tank skid, but not the gas tank. This was back in 2012. So, maybe the procedure has changed since then.

Edit: eBay gas tank may have been used. New looks like $640.

 

I have noticed that uncommon parts fetch a premium. I'd love to get some Limited seats but new they are like a grand a piece. No thanks. I'll keep looking for a used set.

 

It seemed just as thick as the OME I took off. Looked like good quality.
