A Yaris?! I hope your doing something cool to it, like putting it on a Tacoma 4x4 chassis, or dropping a 5.7V8 under the hood....

Unfortunately some standard maintenance. Found out what running out of power on the road is like. Good thing I was in a residential area.

Running out of power? How can you even tell? I've driven one of those before, they don't have power to begin with....

Haha well the battery took a shit first and was confirmed dead, the next day the alternator died. The battery contacts themselves were pretty corroded. We got lucky though in that we were in Baltimore for most of Saturday before the battery lights started coming on. Good news is her car is pretty good now.

I loved my old roomates yaris. It had tons of room for the size it was and could turn on a dime! Good city car. Although it could have gotten better mpg for what it was.....

I had a loaner for a few weeks while the Tundra was getting it's frame sprayed for the recall. I thought it was atrocious, too small, too slow to accelerate, and not enough top end. It would've gotten better mileage if i drove it nicer, but so would my trucks. I loved the day I gave the keys back and got my truck back!

I hear ya man...its def mediocre in terms of any one commuter attribute, but she scored it back in 2009 for $5,000 from a dealer who was trying to move it with 50k miles on it. For that deal, she has cruised around a good minute because of it. Depending on her funds in the next 6 months, she would like to get a runner. I take every opportunity I can to help steer her in that direction!

My wife has one. It has power! I can get rubber in 2nd! It is a blast to drive! She rarely lets me 'cause I like to wind that little 4-banger tight!

Let me just say that "getting rubber" (unless that's a euphemism for something else) is not all that impressive. Back in the day i could lay a patch from a 1984 Chevette - it was even an automatic. Anyone can dump a clutch at 5 grand.....

True dat. But her Yaris is relatively quick, and fun to drive. It is definitely quicker than the 78 Chevette I had back in the day!

What a great idea the Chevette was...

Oh yeah. That chevette was probably the slowest car I've ever driven. It just proves the point that squealing tires don't mean power. And "relatively quick" is a nice way of saying it's slow.:D
That chevette was a tough little car though. You could absolutely beat the snot out it and it would look at you and say " Thank you sir! May I have another!?"

I'm sure the Yaris is the same way.

Sad that the Yaris gets worse mpg than that old Chevette (unless that was the diesel Chevette that had 40mpg)

Haha i was just reading through this thread. It's funny because my friends down in the Hampton roads/tidewater regions never understand me when I said I'm from Nova, but not like actual nova.

Culpeper huh? My home town is Bealeton. Just up the road from you!

That's awesome, I went to cedar lee as well, graduated from Liberty, class of 2014 (yea I know, hence the name "kid"). Cool to see other people around the area participate in online forums. I always thought I was in a dead area.

What time is the bdubs meet on the 18th? I can probably make that. My Jeep buddy will probably tag along, he's from bealeton and goes to school in Fredericksburg.
