That's hits it right on the head. Solid logic.

The design has been around for other vehicles for years so it is proven itself in my opinion. May be new to Toyota but the design isn't new.

Oddly enough, and I'm not standing up for the "air" locker -- my choice would be electric.... I was driving a suzuki vitara for a while, and it had an air pressure activated ADD. So yeah, this type of system *is* used by OEMs sometimes.

Onboard tire pump really isn't a good selling feature, especially when you're looking at multiple HUNDREDS to buy essentially a TIRE PUMP that you can buy on Amazon for $20.

    I think you are misunderstanding.
By not contradicting the rest of it, I AM AGREEING WITH IT.
I simply don't agree that there is hundreds of dollars worth of value in having it as a tire pump, because tire pumps are CHEAP.

    Gotcha.
And yes, tire pumps certainly are cheap but a high flow pump that you're essentially getting as an integrated cost item (sunk cost in the locker setup) is a nice plus. It's always installed and ready to go without taking up extra space in the cab. Space in the cab is precious! :)

    Not an overbrander.
Any updates from anyone running the Harrop E-Locker? I am strongly considering it and would like to hear about any firsthand experience with the system.

    Here's my $0.02:
I'm buying one of these. ARB is great too but requires airlines and constant air pressure and constant amp draw for the compressor to run. That same compressor can fill up tires, yes, but it is so slow it really gives you time to ponder all the poor choices you have made in life (CO2 tank for the win!).
While the Eaton only requires a constant 8amp draw to keep the electro magnet energized. Less parts, less failure potential, less install time and similar overall investment.
From a strength perspective pretty much every locker is stronger than the stuff that surrounds it, even the factory elocker which some of you guys are hating on for some reason tho it's the only one that you can easily (dis)engage on the trail by hand, just gotta pull the actuator.

As long as the Auburn ECTED isn't available for Tacos - and I really wish it was (LSD to locker) - this one gets my vote , and money , for the above reasons

Edit: @Cruiser Brothers : any hookups possible?

Most definitely. How about a Harrop elocker group buy? Any interest?

The 4-pinion Harrop/Eaton has been out there for seven years, no gripes. We have sold over 500 in USA since 2015 and no failures.....

Who wants a deal? $100 off, free shipping? Maybe 3 weeks from order to arrival.

I've had mine installed for a year and I'm quite happy with the decision. Quick to activate, few moving parts and got a good deal from one of @Cruiser Brothers dealers here in Texas, Tandem Offroad.
