    Honestly, I was just in the garage a couple of hours ago thinking the same thing. A sawzall and maybe a bit of smoothing with an angle grinder and I think this might be the best solution. Probably take about an hour or so for tweaking.

    Yeah. My tool is always in the truck and I don't plan to have to use these often. Just a socket wrench.This method keeps them tight and not banging around. But yeah will be annoying when I have to get them

    Tailgate seal weather stripping came in today. Tc bed stiffeners are on the way. Hopefully ill have the bed sealed up a bit more so dirt and water dont get in. Tossing around the idea of sealing the bed to tailgate gap as well.

    The spot I can't get to seal is at the front bulkhead for the bed. Because it's about 3/4" lower than the sides I can't seem to get a good seal with the shell.

    I know that it's best to just get out and enjoy the truck rather than hang out here and find out all the things that could be wrong with your truck. Tacoma's are still about the best built truck there is but that's getting to be to much.

    The installer of my ARE had a seal strip, red and black that came with the cap, and he added 3 thicknesses of the flat seal, from a roll, that he used one thickness of on the sides.
