Who's familiar with Danny Gatton? Such a tragedy who took his life.. He taught Joe Bonamassa some when he was young.

    Retarded good.

You'd be hard pressed to find anybody that (really) knows what they are talking about to argue that he wasn't the best all around player we've ever seen.

Anybody else familiar with Johnny A? I think he's one of the best instrumental songwriters there is. His phrasing is outstanding. And that tone is caviar.

Or you can try to haggle the guy down a hundred bucks and take it. It's close to where you are and it's my exact amp. I can vouch for it... been using it professionally for 8+ years. Also depends on the music you want to pump through it... if you like shredding and guitar-god sounds, maybe it's not the right amp. If you like bluesy natural ballsy sound, it's a great amp.

Agreed. Not too bad considering to buy a new handwired starts at 1300. I just was watching a video on youtube comparing a regular 15 to one of the new handwired ones, both with greenbacks. The difference is actually striking, the handwired sounds considerably better throughout all the different settings the guy put them through. I really wouldn't have expected that much of a difference.

If I was in your position, I'd make sure it's in good shape, and then IF you indeed want that amp instead of your 30's, go for it. All I know is I'd recommend that exact amp all day and Sunday too. I think you need to test drive though since it'll be different than what you're used to. You may not even like the features. It is different than a 30, but much better IMHO.

Appreciate that andAgreed, i will be doing some test driving.

Upon more reading the heritage series-HWTV doesn't have a master volume right? I think I would miss not having it too much. looks like the newer handwireds do have it... Guitar Center offers an Open Box price for $1099. That makes it more reasonable, depending on what I can get out of my two 30's.

Correct, mine does not have a master volume. I use just one pedal, an old TS9, for any overdrive. But for rhythm, this amp as-is is great because of the high-level input. It gets a great ballsy rhythm sound at low volume levels. If you want an amp more for soloing rock-style, this may not be it. At least we've narrowed it down for you a bit.

Dang, y'all are talking big money. I set a limit for myself way back when I was 18. I vowed to never pay more than $600 for any piece of gear. I broke that rule once when I horse-traded enough gear to buy my Gibson Les Paul Goldtop. My wife CRIED. And not tears of joy. I only bought the gold top after years of playing out and touring. Still, that fact did not rationalize the price, and coincidentally, I stopped touring and never used it on stage.

I told her it was our anniversary gift. Really, my F150 was totaled in a T-bone accident. Insurance came through and I put a nice down payment on the Taco the night before our Anniversary. She was pleased. She didn't want another F150 taking up the driveway.

Danny was one of my favorite guitar players. I live in the DC area, so got to see him several times.

I also like Tom Principato a lot. He played with Gatton and Roy Buchanan. Here's a clip of Tom:
