Nothing personal but the heat down here kills the shit out of batteries. I'm not spending big bucks on another high end battery to have to replace it at most a year later than a regular one.

Now over on your side of the country and up north is a different story.

 

It was a weak spark until we connected the Tundra to it... and then sparked quite a bit more.

We'll definitely try the battery first. I'll take it in tomorrow and test it out. My dad is saying that I should have one with more cranking power anyway, so I'm going to replace it no matter what.

 

The way we use to check by in the day if the alternator is bad but pulling the battery when the engine is running. If the engine is still running, it's not the alternator. You can't do that now with these more advanced computerized engines. BTW have you pulled any CEL codes? Usually if the alternator is bad there should be a code going off for it.

 

When we pulled the battery, the truck died. And we don't have a code reader and we can't move the truck out of my driveway, so we won't be reading a code anytime soon....

 

See if that test was done with a known good battery I would agree it is the alternator but you tested it with a worn old battery and unknown condition of the alternator.

 

You can cause some serious damage to your truck, I don't recommend doing that again since that truck has so much computerized circuits going through it you could damage the charging system or starting system of the truck. Just a warning about pulling the cable off the battery when the engine is running. It's ok to do it to the older vehicles but these modern engines don't like it.

LOL Ok I highly highly highly recommend a code scanner. It'll save a lot of time troubleshooting. I bought one the day I bought my truck. My prior cars were all OBD1 or lower. This is my first OBD2 vehicle.

 

I'm on stock wheels. Only rub the UCA at almost full droop. Which happens when we're running dirt roads at 55-65.

 

You got spacers though right? Or do second gens clear the UCA without them?

 

I have a set but they aren't on the truck.

I'd have plenty of room with them on.

 

Okay, okay, recommendations, then? I'm shit outta luck about moving the truck, so that leaves me buying one... depending on how expensive they are.

And my dad is literally standing here trying to convince me to join the new snorkel GB.... FML guys. Stop making me spend moneyyyyy
