Fantastic. Where did the frame go? Are you having any other work done?

Nice you were able to get pics. The dirty dickhole dealership I went to acted like they were protecting the pope when I asked about taking photos.

Probably didn't want me to see them hack it together!
Glad you're getting it done and they are working with you on the aftermarket suspension.

My dealership called to tell me mine came in today, too. I was kinda surprised. They estimated 5 months and it was actually only 4 weeks. Now I've only got a couple days to figure out what I want them to do while it's apart. Not really interested in any upgrades, but I'll probably do a lot of maintenance/rehab-type stuff while I can get the labor break.

I get the feeling they're not gonna be open to letting me hang around to monitor the process. The place is only a half-mile from my house and I frequently go past there on my afternoon walks. I'm excited about the whole thing, but to them it's just another job to get done as quickly as possible.

I'm not there hanging around - I did get to meet the mechanic and he is super nice. We went over what I wanted as extras and he showed me a few things of concern - He is texting me pictures along the way. . Got one today of the truck frame bare -
I'm hoping to get another soon of the new frame as a rolling chassis -

    It's stock still :(
So I've done some reading on this frame replacement recall, does this apply to all 2001-2004 models? I doubt mine would qualify since it's in fairly good shape, but I'm still curious. Thanks!

No it doesn't.. Well it does and it doesn't. Back when the recall came out you had to take your truck in and have it inspected. They replaced your frame if needed OR sprayed some useless messy black undercoating on it if it was deemed ok. They did at that point extend your warranty to a full 15 years from the day you drove it away NEW. If you did'nt take it in for the inspection and spraying on of the useless black never drying oily undercoating your are S.O.L.
Did I mention my mechanic showed me spots on the frame that looked fine - BUT under the UBUC < Useless Black Under Coating
He would tap on the frame in spots that he knew would be bad and put a hammer through it.

That's not entirely true, that only applied to certain states. It was not required in Mo and they just replaced my frame on my '04, and I have heard similar stories from others in Tn, Ky, Tx to name a few. I believe the required inspection and coating only applied to certain "cold weather states"

To add a little to what @Big Daddy said, the location of the truck was also a factor. They had to be fromm certain states. What we think of as 'rust belt' states. Don't think Va was one. And neither was any of the Pacific NW staates. Only states who have really harsh winters and salt their roads.

Unfortunately, Your '01 would have aged out of the 15 year extended warranty (NOT a recall) by now. Check your vehicle's original sale date.

My truck has definitely been undercoated. I assumed it was from when they "detailed" the truck for sale, because it's such a crappy job. It meets your requirements, seems always wet, and they sprayed everything! Even my driveshafts, and part of the transfer case got it too.

You think if I bring it by a dealership they could tell me if Toyota did the undercoating? And whether or not my warranty is extended?

The VIN would tell them. But the other posts are correct an 01 would be past the deadline -

big daddy - how long was your truck exposed to salt roads? I also have an '01, but it's lived it's life in AZ :D so the frame and all else is absolutely perfect and rust free. I just brought it back to VT and had it completely undercoated immediately. I'm curious to know how long i have till I have to worry about the frame rust

My 03 TRD 4x Dbl Cab is in great shape and totally stock when I purchased it 2016 with 103k. Great shape other than the 2015 dealer sprayed frame. Now my concern is how much do I put into it, time & $$? No big mod plans, mostly interior comfort stuff. hope to keep it mostly stock and drive it for a long time. Or do I start planning to trade for another DD-wannabe overland vehicle?
