    The most important thing you need in the truck, a windows 98se disc. You never know when a computer from 1997 is going need to be rebooted.

    This Bikemaster tool roll I have fits right into the space with the stock jack in that little compartment. Nice little kit. The lid closes just fine with it in there, could probably fit a socket rail in there also, or just loose sockets.

    Cruztools makes several nice compact tool rolls also. Sears has them available along with Craftsman tool rolls.

    BMW motorcycle has a superb compact kit, but pricey. I like the motorcycle kits because they're designed to give you the most bang while taking up little space and weight.

    looking to again revamp what tools and how i store them in the truck and got me wondering...

    what tools do you carry in your truck?

    what do you use as storage?

    what "essential tools" should be included in your truck arsenal?

    goal is to keep weight to a minimum while covering as many repairs as you can....


    i had tool boxes held within a chest in my bed originally then ditched the bed storage and moved my tools into bags and kept them on the floor behind the front seats (access cab)...i then got a kolbalt mini tool box with 3-drawer and top storage that fits behind the passenger seat....as well as a kolbalt mechanic's socket set

    thinking about doing a tool inventory and utilizing some atlas 45 roll bags to hang from the headrest and a bag or two for impact gun and electrical items...

    my current setup is fucking heavy and can use some cleansing of "non-essential" tools...

    1) Air Compressor
    2) Motorcycle tie downs & misc bungees
    3) 1/2" Breaker Bar
    4) 1/2" Impact Socket with Spline lug adapter
    5) Set of deep metric sockets/ratchet
    6) Adjustable wrench
    7) Set of pliers
    8) Set of screw drivers
    9) Disposable and mechanix gloves
    10) Standard Tacoma tire kit
    11) Tire plug repair kit
    12) Spare valve stem cores and caps
    13) High output flashlight

    I keep the straps and bungees in a 50 cal ammo can and the rest of the tools in a plastic Craftsman toolbox. They all fit nicely behind my seat. I like to keep it light, if I need more than what I have I'm having a real bad day.

    That closely resembles my tool kit. Here's a few other handy things I have.
    -a tyvek coverall
    -a heavy duty waxed canvas 4'x4' tarp for laying on or laying over.
    -good 3/8" nylon braided rope
    -TAPE
    -copper anti-seize
    -serpentine belt
    "prevention is better than a cure"

    I always keep one of the back seats flat and use some 2 gallon Rubbermaid containers and Canvas zipper bags, W Durable Goods or Klein.

    I used to carry a complete set to do most anything .

    They are still in the Truck the 2 wrench`s I use the most are 11/16" and 3/4"

    Now I carry my AAA card and have Towing and Road service .

    Quite different if your way off the beaten path in my case those days are over
