This slide is especially nice.. either unfortunately bad naming of the slide title... or indications that they are aware of these being real "issues"

Not good. I'm sure Toyota isn't the only manufacturer to pat themselves on the back for performance bullets like that, but the timing on releasing this one couldn't be worse.

/sigh so much for resale value...

These documents make a lot more sense to me than all the poorly faked claims of ignorance Toyota has been displaying lately. I'm looking forward to seeing the fallout from this one. The president's response at the end of the CNN article is probably a preview of the drivel he'll deliver on Wed to Congress.

I look for Akio Toyoda to step down from his position and a major housecleaning operation to follow.

I think at this point Hyundai is the only company that has incentive to concentrate on quality.. that is until their priorities also shifts

This is an eye-opening account of the Lexus crash.. with witness accounts I have not heard before and quite frankly.. pretty shocking if they are accurate.

To be fair to the guy - he was the one who raised concerns of Toyota's direction of cost cutting. If anything, I think he was on the path to change that culture after taking the helm.

In the above article I linked, witness accounts saying they saw the Lexus stopped on the side of the road with its hazards on and smoke coming out of the front end. THis is right before they saw the car moments later passing by them at a fast rate of speed.

Even worse - a guy who drove the same exact Lexus on a previous day also experienced acceleration issues.. Apparently the dealership ignored the complaint and gave the same car back out the next day.

Sounds very sensational I know.. but makes you think why this trained highway cop didn't just push it into N...

This shouldn't be much news to anyone. Unless you've had your blinders on the whole time, which it seems MANY of us (TW members) have.

I used to get a real kick out of the majority of members reactions to the old, "My truck suddenly accelerated!" threads. How could you sit in your chair and come to the conclusions that these people are instantly some sort of internet troll without getting a little more in depth to the users post? Anyways, only time will the truth, but I think we will all be very surprised when the truth comes out. Electronic drive and throttle by wire systems are theoretically fail proof systems with redundant fail safes in place, but this has proved in the past to not always be the case when theory comes to practice.

Don't get me wrong, I love my Toyota, but its no doubt nothing what they once were. It seems as if some people are just completely blinded by the ignorance of stanch brand loyalty.
