Finished wiring up the keyless entry module and terminal blocks:

 

Absolutely true, mechanicjon knows his stuff. Always cool to see folks give credit when they get help. I'm jelly of all your 'soon to be' luxuries.... Gonna feel like being in a Cadillac with all those power options.

 

You're gonna get real tired of labeling all the wire kick panel wires. Super important aspect of the retrofit, and it will help you in the future if something goes wrong.



The wires you see covered with heat shrink are unused. I'm not using the door check circuit (inside of the lock actuator assembly) and the Double Cab rear window wiring (although I will utilize it in the future when I motorize the rear vent windows in my Extended Cab)

 

That doesn't look fun at all. It wasn't enough for the wires just to be color/stripe coded and using a key for matching them up?

 

You could do that but I like being extra for future maintenance and ease of identification

 

True true, having the info in your fingertips, rather than referencing a key, could save time and frustration with that many wires.

 

After a long streak of staring at the wiring diagrams, labeling, charting, and drawing out schematics, I finally finished the overall wiring diagram. It took the whole damn day. Hopefully everything is correct, but I'm having it doubled check.

I have massive respect for people who do this on whole vehicles. I can't even imagine doing that. It's pretty difficult and tedious. I haven't even started fabricating the harness yet, just the sheer amount of research and development you have to do is insane.

Hopefully it'll be a hell of a lot easier if you guys do it since I'm doing all the legwork.

Im a freelance camera operator and most of my work comes from rally, rallycross, or offroad racing. Every part of a racecar is rad as shit, but the wiring harnesses they put into them always impress me. Easily rack up 5-10k in connectors, boots, etc without any labor for each one. 20-30k finished. Crazy stuff.

 

That's awesome man! Yeah wiring isn't cheap. It's one of the most vital parts of any car though.

 

Its the nerves of the vehicle.

Just ordered all the wiring harness supplies! 6 rolls of 100FTx14GA wire, terminal blocks, fuse holder, 1/2 split wire loom, and a new passenger power mirror (since the right one was all smashed up on the donor truck from the rollover).

I ordered expedited shipping on the wire because I can't wait, Lol! I'm in an area with Prime NOW so most items get 2 hour delivery (none of these qualify unfortunately )

It was weird - I ordered something off Amazon and one day I was working on the truck outside. This shady looking woman parks, and comes out from a fairly expensive Mercedes-Benz 'S' Class wearing an Amazon hat, says hello, hands me my package, and sped off. Weirdest delivery of my life.

Guess it is. that's a good price.

 

Yup! I was surprised it was so cheap. It's TYC brand, pretty comprarable to the stock. Think the Toyota scrapper near me wanted like 60 dollars for a an old beat up chrome one like the one I have.

 

Curious how easy they come apart for mods.
