285s should put you into 33" and likely E rated. unless you mean duratracs as well since you can get D rated

But the guy I originally quoted said 32s, so I'm thinking possibly C rated

You can get 285s in a P metric also if you want the most economy in that size.

At the end of the day, putting the mouse in a bigger wheel will always make him more tired and hungry.

what brands? Haven't seen many unless you're going with a 33x12.5x16 etc and at that they're too wide.

Turd gens are slow as molasses. I love it! Haven't gotten a single speeding ticket since buying one. Not sure if it can.

completely correct. I am okay with it, was just a bit shocked at the initial drop. I twas done to be more off road capable and to do more beyond stock so no complaints. just an FYI for others.

    lmao

I had to drop mine off to get the paint repaired, drove my old jetta that has a bunch done to it.
Holy fuck going from jetta to truck I knew truck would be slower but didn't notice how much until I drove the jetta again for 2 days. Just the low end torque of the diesel plus the larger turbo once its spooled.

yep, I'd love to go 33s E rated for wheeling but given I daily drive as well and sometimes have a long commute depending on the job site I can't do it.

    At this point I'm going with C rated duratrac 265 70 17.
Considering maybe getting another set of rims and running a 33 mud if I want to do serious wheeling but since I'm mostly doing overlanding, the 265s should do ok and still be somewhat ok on fuel.

Just to clear up this whole thread...

I took my K&N CAI off and replaced with an Airflow Snorkel and the factory OEM airbox and original air filter. I'm already seeing better MPGs.

33's, 2.5" lift, steel skids, steel bumpers, steel sliders, 4.56 gears, 4.0L V6. Getting 14mpg last two tanks.

    Thread closed.

Makes sense to me. I had debated 255/80/17 to get a taller tire but not as bad of fuel economy. Another option for folks.

All the Steel added to the truck I am sure is helping out there as well. At least your getting 14. I don't think I am getting that even after conversion and I have not added any steel yet.

Even Better! My truck feels fast after I take the old 67 mustang out for a spin. That thing is slow as shit.

True most people still see better mpg with the 255 at least that is what the countless threads I read said. I wanted a bigger tire so went with 285 KBro2's
