Rollover Chance?

I had no idea asking someone's thoughts on the increased roll-over chance would solicit such negative assumptions about me.

I had originally asked other Tacoma owners who have experience with lifting and the dynamics of driving if they thought the increase in rollover probability would deter them from making the decision to lift their truck.

I value my father's opinions and concerns and want to make the most educated decision as I can, hence my asking of the question here as well.

 

Props too your dad for being worried. Unless you can't drive for shit, very low chance...

 

Actually he is a very good driver, just is very analytical and cautious about things. If I had mentioned a 12 inch lift, I think he would have a valid concern. I pretty much knew a small lift would practically be harmless, but wanted to hear others' thoughts.

 

He's right. Physics are physics.

But your tires will fit fine on a stock truck, and if you aren't old enough to make your own decisions and your dad is saying no, then the answer will be no until he says otherwise or you're old enough to have your own choices.

Your issue makes you seem like you're not an adult, and your dad is telling you what you can and can't do.

So.. if I'm wrong, maybe you should re-word your post.

If you're an adult, do whatever you want. Raising anything changes the center of gravity. Your dad is right. Rollover chance increases also, for the same reason. Your dad is right.

If you aren't a kid, then do what you want. It isn't your dads car.

If you are a kid, your dad is right. If you want to change his mind, talk to him instead of strangers on the internet.

 

Just about any car or even a truck can roll given the right circumstances

 

OP originally wanted opinions on whether or not lifting his truck 2-4 inches would raise the center of gravity and increase his risk of rollover, which are both reasons cited by his dad when his dad said no to lifting.

He deleted it for who knows why, didn't like his dad being right, maybe. Then PMd me and called me a troll.

Asked his age, he said nothing except some half assed attempt to sound noble and mature, which is ironic after deleting his posts because nobody clapped his back.

No negative assumptions kid. Ask questions on the Internet, you will get answers.. Might not be what you wanted but you got responses.

 

On the contrary. I was simply miffed at some of the responses I had received from a couple others. I apologize if I came across as anything but an adult; I had simply asked opinions of the increase in roll-over, not for judgments on my own character.

 

Anyways, to answer your question. Your chances will be increased, but it's very unlikely as mentioned above. If you want to lift your truck, you're at no real risk as opposed to not lifting it.

 

You wanted us to tell you your dad was wrong, which would be more obvious if you hadn't deleted it and then reposted it as something completely different in tone and context.

But glad you got your answers. Or didn't.

Nobody said anything about your character until you had a post delete fest tantrum because you didn't like the opinions you asked for.

It is a little comical now, and I completely see your perspective. This clearly has been a lesson on how NOT to ask opinions and to indeed use clarifying language as to what exactly I am looking for.

 

Raising any vehicle will increase the risk of a rollover. I failed science mostly because it was my nap time, but I learned that lesson. I haven't rolled my truck as of yet and I don't even have a sway bar
