The reason why drivers are getting worse is because people are getting dumber.

Yeah, especially with all the lobbying from auto manufacturers, tire companies, big oil, etc. etc. Unfortunately not happening

That's why LA is the way it is. It used to have one of the most extensive public transit systems until GM bought out the companies operating the streetcars and trolleys

Wasn't just GM. I believe Firestone and Goodyear were involved, as well. And probably a few others.

I can go to almost any foreign county and quickly figure out and use public transportation very quickly and safely. OK, not India. But driving a car there is a game of Russian roulette too.

In the US, for the most part, it is confusing, time consuming, and potentially deadly. Historically, streetcar lines ran down the street in front of my house in what used to be a quiet suburb. Now it is a shortcut for speeding thugs and self-centered soccer moms alike to avoid a congested intersection another half mile away.

Exception: NYC metro is awesome. Of course there is a critical mass there of the alternative (car ownership) being far less convenient and expensive.

Ask anyone that works for the SFMTA for directions and you'll get pissed off. One time I was on the trolley going down to Market st and a tourist steps on and asks for directions. The operator says there's a map outside then shuts and door and takes off. Other times were even less pleasant.

I'll have to agree with that. I am extremely amazed and impressed on how efficient and convenient the metro system is here in Greece. The US especially the Bay Area should take notes. We took it today to go visit my sister and it cost me $5 (US) for five 90min passes that's good for any transit system (metro, bus, train)

Looks awesome! I'm jealous, but then again I'm having a hard time knowing I'm going to cut my bedsides for my HC bumper. Let alone do something like this!
