    Thanks for all the replies.

I am still thinking about saving the coin and getting an older TRD and putting some money into it. (I also wouldn't mind getting a WaveRunner with the money I save)
I figure I could make a pretty awesome toy/beach truck, while saving on the daily gas (I have a heavy foot and average 43MPG in the Prius).
Yeah, it's another depreciating asset, but I am looking at it as a vacation expense /hobby, not an automobile.
You can't put a price on memories and exploring the outdoors.

I just put some Michelin defenders on the car - 100k Mile warranty on those. Brakes are warrantied for another 40k.
Batteries are lasting 150k+ from what I read on most of the forums.

A lil this a lil that.
You've mentioned the differences in your post. The suspension complete changes the ride, towing, and ability. Suspension is specifically what I meant.

I honestly dig that thing a lot... The red is loud but I think it would grow on you. Throw some black wheels on it and remove that god awful bull-bar, black a few things out and youll have yourself a nice rig!

The OR is great for 4wheeling. The suspension on the PRO is designed to disapate heat in high speed runs where the shock travel alot. What is your terrain and how fast do you want to go over it?

Also what kind of comforts do you want. The JBL stereo is no bueno on the PRO.

I say build a OR and PRO on line and check it out against your gen 2 and the others. I bet you can sink $10k in the gen 2 and build a beast.

Slightly, if any is definitely, the key word. Honestly if you're not set on a new DD/set of wheels go with a cheap clean 1st gen and mod the shit out of it for less and like you said will have way more fun with no worries of breaking it, denting it, etc.

I'd keep the Prius for the daily commute, you won't get 43 mpg in a truck. It's been reliable for you and you've personalized it to your liking. Get yourself a nice 2nd gen (2005-2015) Tacoma for your weekend adventures.

If you find yourself using the Taco as a DD while the Prius sits and collects dust, then you can consider trading them both in on a newer truck with more creature comforts. The 2nd gen Tacoma won't depreciate much, if at all, in a year or two.

So the first question, why did you get a Prius? Second question, why would you give up that stereo in your daily driver where I assume you spend a good amount of time.

Keep the good on gas for your daily and long ass drives, get a good used taco and have a freaking blast.

I had an outback XT with some performance mods.
I was spending 700 a month on gas.
I ended up getting the Prius to save on gas.

I am also looking at some used Forester XT's, because I can do some fun performance stuff with it and still do some light off roading.

I will likely go with a taco that will hold its value... especially with only putting a few miles on it.

Bro's it's SoCal. You don't understand he has to get a Pro.

I'm assuming you got a Prius for fuel economy, why else. So a Tacoma seems counter productive.

There are some great subies out there lifted with performance and off road capability.

I personally would pick up the used Tacoma and keep the Pruis as a commuter. If you find that you don't need the Pruis, you can alwasy sell privately and put the money toward the waverunner, savings and/or on the used Tacoma if financed.

Honestly, if the Pruis is owned free and clear I would keep until I new I was satisfied with my other purchase.

Theres deffinetly going to be an mpg difference tacoma to prius... just saying:) get the older taco, if you want to get rid of it in a year or two the value will still be good, plus you wont care about beating it up as much.
