The Pro looks badass, don't get me wrong I want one. But a 17' Off-Road is better bang/$ if you ask me. Or keep the Prius and get a used 2nd gen. That way you keep a good gas millage commuter and keep your sound system!

OP don't be like the one guy who was asking why he's getting 13 mpg with 35'' mud tires and a 6'' BDS lift on his new bro taco. lol. I tease, but seriously, keep the prius and build a sweet off roader.

I don't drive nearly as much now.
I honestly like the idea of the 2nd toy. I don't want to destroy my daily.
I would feel like crap if I wrecked a brand new truck in the dessert.

Plus if you do a lot of the work yourself, they'll be a sense of pride and far more love for something you built yourself not bought. Just my 2 cents.

Hmm ... not in my case. We had a Prius for 7 years. Awesome vehicle and even some survived a bit of Death Valley dirt. In fact it "replaced" an 80 Series Land Cruiser (though we also had a Subaru). A few years ago I got the hankering for a real 4wd again and bought an older 4wd T100. Enjoyed it so much, but felt like we had too many cars (3) and wanted a nicer rig to drive to the trails. So sold the Prius and T100, and bought a 2016 3rd gen Tacoma TRD OR. I do miss the T100, but don't really miss the Prius as I don't drive much except on road trips where I really want the truck. I have over 30K miles on the Taco now and it's been just as reliable as the Prius.

BTW my Subaru was a Forester XT and quite good off-road but only slightly better mpg than my Taco, and needed premium so probably cost more for gas.

I just went from a 2010 Prius to a 2017 Tacoma 4x4 OffRoad. I figure that 7 years of getting 45 MPG offsets my now getting 20MPG!
