anyone else excited for the Safety Sense? I have a Pro Grille and there is a removeable/moveable insert in the middle which might be made for it.

probably same cost to trade it in for an 18 than adapt it, I've looked up what safety sense is, but I have not the faintest idea of how Toyota goes about accomplishing it..

It's a thing that you either want it or don't depending on how you feel about it

The problem with safety sense is that new drivers with vehicles that have this technology are relying on this system and think that gives them more freedom to text/talk/check facebook/do makeup, etc.
They believe the vehicle will prevent them from having an accident and are not focused on driving.
There becomes a point and time where you can have too much safety features and actually create more problems.

Just had a RAV4 loaner for a week and had to turn off the SS stuff after a few days. Super annoying.

Some people think they can use this technology as a reason to text while they drive. They are meant to assist drivers, but they can also create bad habits.

Horrible! I was in a rental car a friend had it is annoying. I'll just pay attention and drive. Way too many people depend on all the new tech that has been put in new cars and trucks. I don't want a computer making decisions that could kill me.

All the way up until they are completely autonomous. I personally am looking forward to the millions of neglectful idiots on the road being replaced by cpus, radars and multi-million dollar algorithms.

People need to understand it before disputing it, but I don't feel it's ready for trucks yet.

It doesn't take over driving but backs the driver up if they cannot react.

    Events like

1: Drunk driving, it will try to keep the lane and will do it's best to prevent front end collisions.
2: Seizure/Medical failure. It will try it's best to bring the vehicle to a safe stop. Although I think is unlikely.
3: Distracted driving/fatiaged driving, it will alert when lane swaying is happening and prevent low speed accidents.

I've driven quite a few models now and some features are annoying (All can be disabled currently) but I find the idea of the systems to be positive and hopefully help with the state of today's drivers.

The last perk is the new Adaptive/Radar cruise control through the safety sense. It is far better than the out going Sequoia/Sienna radar system that rarely worked and was expensive to repair.
I was set to 80kph and caught up to a cab that was going 60kph headed to a red light. The car sensed it 400meters out and began the slow down process until 40kph was reached and cruise was disabled.

My gf's 2017 has a similar sensor system...within one week she had a bug on it and the system kept throwing an error. Called the dealer...they told me to wipe any bugs or mud off. So I did...still didn't fix the error message. They ended up having to re calibrate it....thank god it was under warranty because it would have been $400 to do it...

Same here. Lots of talk about TSS in the 2018 and none of it I want.
