So, i am in the market to upgrading from my 2012 5lug tacoma.

I found a nice 2013 double cab tacoma, TRD sport, pyrite Mica color with 94K miles, V6, RWD. Local. 2 owner. It has toytec 3inch spacer lift with leaf springs and new bfg ko2's already. I am getting it for $19,500

Its a little higher than what it Blue books for, but it is one of the best deals i have been able to find. It seems tacoma re-sale is just stupid high, more so than what i think they should be IMO.

Do you think this truck is work $19,500 and are these taco's really worth their re-sale??

Resale is exactly where the 'value' shows.

People pay, so the prices stay high.

I do think that price for a 100k truck is a bit much. That's a high miler, 25k a year.

Not that that is bad in the life of the truck, but if it gets wrecked, rest assured the insurance will mark it down because of it.

What is the loan value at a CU or such? Thats a better indicator of actual 'worth' in the financial world.

Compare to the other trucks in your area at the price point and decide. What an institution labels its worth and market value may be different.

The Tacomas have the highest resale out of any vehicle in the US, making used prices rediculous. I don't advocate for buying new, but when looking at the late model Tacomas used (in 2015) it didn't make sense to me to buy used due to the high resale, so I bought brand new. Obviously no longer an option for 2nd Gens.

If your willing to pay that much...it's worth it..and Toyota keeps its reputation again.

Actually it's 'unemotional' worth what a financial institution is willing to loan, or an insurance company is willing to payout.

What someone is willing to pay is what it's 'worth' to them. If that's more than it's true financial worth, good for the seller.

Ignore the mods and just look at the truck and miles.... but it seems like the right price

My 2007 TRD OR DCSB w/89k miles was advertised @ $17,995. That seems like a good enough deal to me for a 2013. I got them to fold all the fees & taxes into the price and paid 18k out the door.

I think its definitely a case by case basis. I have been aggressively looking for almost a year now and they all are in the 20s for decent mileage.

I want to say it isnt worth it. Especially the 2012-2015 as they have the pump issue to worry about (more 2012 than anything) and a super bland and boring interior with little to no tech, but then you look at what else is out there and it becomes apparently obvious. Toyota has practically no competition. Closest thing I could come up with was a Jeep Wrangler (not trying to start anything) but that's not even a fair comparison as they're two completely different cars. The jeep is guilty of the same price issue as well.

At the end of the day the real question becomes:
How long am I willing to wait for the right deal?
How far am I willing to travel for the right deal?
Is there a used third gen (cheapest I saw was 33k for a DBCB) that has a comparable cost?

How exactly is the pump a known failure issue, because 4 people on this forum had an issue?

I had no idea about the resale value of these trucks. I just wanted a small truck with a standard (it replaced a Ranger, and a low mile ranger has decent resale around here too!). Can't complain when I see them listed in my area for the same or more than I paid almost 2 years later!

I paid $19,500 for my 2006 DCSB Sport 4x4 5 years ago w, 130k talked them down from $21,900. I overpaid but it was the one of the best deals in my area.
    I say jump on it.

    **Edit
Just checked NadaGuides and Clean retail with the mileage for my truck (178k) is $16,700. These trucks are definitely worth their resale.
