It's a good hobby to have! I mostly just prefer to be able to turn out pictures that don't suck, more than pictures I could sell. So I'd probably go for that I am an "amateur photographer" at best.

What I really need is a sewing room set up where everything is out and ready to use. That is my main problem of doing stuff, having to get all the stuff unpacked out of the bag to use it. I'm getting a room cleaned out now to get the new embroidery machine in and plan on getting one of the industrial sewing machines next so it will be ready to use whenever. I think I will actually be able to make more stuff that way. Of course there's always the issue of the embroidery taking up a lot of my time also. :goingcrazy:

It's funny you guys are into photography too... I'm no pro obviously, cause I didn't even know what tilt shift term meant.. But I've dabbled thru the years.

BTW the reason the shovel looked like that was just perception, I slid it under the case for a perspective (which ended up not being a good one) so he could see the patch was hanging upside down.. It just happened to end up looking small by chance and the way I'd lifted the case just compounded the look.

I am lucky and we have two huge living rooms and one is tucked to the rear of the house and never used. I set up a table and leave everything ready to go. We are hoping to be looking for a place to buy in a few years and have already decided on making one room a sewing/craft room. While my current set up works, I would like to have an area where I can close the dogs out. They seem to like to lay on any fabric I have on the floor.

I bought my first camera 33 years ago. Learned everything I could absorb about it. Did darkroom work, color and B&W. Did school pictures once and did weddings way back there. I enjoy it as a hobby now more so than work. I did sell some photo's last year for a lawyer's website in town but that was after he did a good bit of begging me to do it. lol

If there is one thing I've learned.. Having things neat, orderly and a space where you can do something is key..

Not too mention too much useless possessions just clutters your mind.. I've been purging belongings, just giving stuff away.

When I get the room cleaned out (daughter moved out on her own) I plan on pulling the carpet up and putting laminate down so stuff doesn't get lost in carpet. Plus I can make a rack to hold all the rolls of stabilizer I use for the embroidery. Not to mention I need a wall rack to hang all the spools of embroidery thread on since they come in 5000 meter spools. I'll be able to keep everyone out in here. lol

I've thought about that strictly for the women. I could where my custom denim stuff and hit on all the single women there sad that they're not married etc..

Yeah I went through my closet the other day and got rid of 4 bags of clothes I had and don't wear anymore. It's a good feeling getting rid of stuff. I don't like clutter anyway but I'm terrible at organizing stuff. I mainly just get rid of shit until it's organized. :D

Beware of all the $300 craigslist professional photographers. I saw one of those photographers work one time on a photo forum I'm on. Bride was begging someone to help her get her photo's fixed. Was really sad. Never skimp on the wedding photographer.

Yeah haha, they probably only did it for the same reason I mentioned...

No if I were to do that, I'd want them raving about how good I was, so the word would spread like wildfire to all their single friends.. They'd be like yeah he's really good and you should see these cool denim fits he wears that he made, he's "handy" and handsome...
Then I'd teach them some sewing basics and have them kicking out 3rd gen visor covers for patches.. Who knows, might even start doing them custom panties THEN do photo shoots..

Well, the sun was out so the gf and I tackled the measurements for the tipi. We couldn't think of a good way to measure 100" easily, or make a decent hypotenuse that's ~117. So we went to the lumber store and got a 1x4 piece of wood to use. Straightest edge we could find. Made quick work of the measuring process. Now I just have to cut it out.

What about popping a chalk line..? After making your other measurements then connect marks with it... Plus using a framing square in the mix, so your right angle stays true.

That probably would have worked. I have seen the pros do it and they have a huge table that they can use vice grips to hold the fabric tight. Wish I had access to a shop.

This seems to have done the trick though. I joked that if it's not 100% straight it will just count as the cat curve.

I have certainly under estimated this project. I have it half way cut out. Guessing it will take all day tomorrow to get it sewn up. I'll order the pole tonight and go over the other small pieces to see what I need.

A lot of projects are under estimated, at least the ones you've never done bc you don't know what to expect.. But this is your first go at it, if you did more after, I'm sure it'd be better.

Plus like you mentioned or implied , It's always hard trying to do anything if you're not "setup".. that in itself can amplify the difficulty of any project.

    @BabyTaco
Is this gonna be a 4season tipi? Or 3season?

Just curious, I've seen the ones with wood stoves, those are sweet.

Eventually 4 season. I'll have to get the stove jack and then make a stove. I have a 4 man seek outside tipi with the stove and man, I can't go back to camping without one.

What do you plan on using around the material where the pipe will go out? When you turn it 4season.
