    Hey.

It could be an oil. If your valve covers were leaking oil and leaked onto the exhaust or any other hot surface. But oil has a particular smell.. and I never heard of the Cat smelling.. Honey combs dont really put off a stench until they are cooled off and broken up. Anything in the cat just heats up similar to a electric stove top; im sure most of the smell has been burned off a while ago.

BUT. I think your water/antifreeze/radiatorfluid/whateverothername is probably what your smelling.

Unfortunately myne was similar and was coming through the vents as well. (when driving at higher rpm's). The fluids are really fishy smelling to me, but I can see the sewer vibe. Haha. With all the different types of water theyve got now: Eco, Rust, Industrial (etc.) they probably all have different putrid smells.

Pop the hood. Smell the radiator cap & drain resevor. (Might have to warm the car up a bit. If so only crack the cap with a thick dry rag to releive the pressure; only crack it one pozition! that should put off enough odor to tell.) Most likely thats what your smelling. If so you can do a radiator flush, or get it done fairly cheap.

Hope it helps. Let us know what ya find out.

My battery isn't even a year old I wouldn't think it would be that but iv popped the hood and looked for leaks everywhere up front I don't see anything wrong. And I don't smell it when I pop the hood and look around the engine and I don't smell it just sitting around the truck it's only when I'm driving

My battery is new and iv popped the hood and looked around you don't smell it unless I'm driving. And it's not a constant smell it's like you get wiffs of it every 20 seconds or so

How can you tell for sure tho because they are expensive for me to just switch out for a new one. No dashboard light is on and I live in Halifax VA and I've been told nobody does emission tests around town. Don't know why

    Does anyone hate you?

Like, enough to shove piles of shit up your exhaust?

    Don't count that possibility out.....

Lets back up here just who might you have pissed off at school the day the smell started ??

How long after leaving school did the smell start??

Looking at the map your pretty much in the middle of the woods

Any big Chicken or turkey farms in the area when they clean the pens the smell can be overwhelming

I know some people run the exhaust into the cab but most often that is once and done.

Maybe the OP has no muffler or pipe just dumps the exhaust behind the cat under the cab Then has some huge holes in the floor. Possible ??

I will agree bad cats do smell but nothing like sewage

I have smelled them from other vehicles but never my own.

It might very well be the Linburger cheese on the cat trick that has a unique smell all it`s own

Maybe it's you? When you roll down the windows the wind blows your stink around and you smell yourself? Have you showered lately?

I put some raw hamburger under your seat a few days ago. You think it's bad now, just wait a few more days.

Have had the dead cat in engine bay mod before. Not cool to undo at all.

Not sure if seat heater issue, or trusting a fart issue......

Are you familiar with the smell of transmission fluid or gear oil? You could be mistaken it for that if you don't know what it smells like
