OP its not going to be a simple plug and play as others have also alluded too, just like everyone thought the power slider would be an easy upgrade/swap, turns out its $3k in OEM parts all said and done confirmed by Jeff the TW parts/corporate guy. I will get a kick out of all the people claiming their lives will be so much more satisfied if they trade their 17 for an 18 because of this, then they'll have the perfect truck, until the 19 comes out with some new color or different seat pattern...

For each of your points I say the following.

    1. Don't get me started on drunk driving, I had a cousin killed by a drunk driver, so I will not speak any further about that so this does not turn into a whole different thread.
    2. Not sure how this system would work in this situation, could be helpful could be of no use.
    3. Driver responsibility in this case. I have driven from California to Louisiana and other long trips, and the driver needs to know when to pull over.
Adaptive cruise control, while it may be a cool feature, again comes driver responsibility. You should always scan forward, rearward, and each side while driving. When teaching my daughter to drive I would not let her take the test until she could go down the main street in our city and while driving tell me what color vehicle was behind her and if it was no longer visible where it went(turned off a side street or in her blind spot or just passed us).
So your points stated just further confirmed what I was saying earlier, people are depending on these systems instead of actually driving.

My problem is all of those features are for others that are out of my control. Not to be relied on but to help me and my family be safe, even if it means being in other vehicles.

You train yourself and your daughter to be good drivers but I have the hopes that a drunk driver won't wander over the yellow line and hurt someone else. ( Again not going into the choices made but the results of those choices whilst driving )

Bad drivers will always exist and these nanny systems should help reduce the problems they create. I want a fighting chance against them, even if it means forcing everyone to be equipped with it.

I for one am looking forward to it- not interested in the lane departure warning features, but the collision avoidance and adaptive cruise seem worth it to me.

This is one of the main reasons I don't think it's ready for a truck , at least not for me. off-roading ,mud rocks, recalibration costs that could be a nightmare down the road. Think about the states that get a lot of salt on the roads with the corrosion all that stuff starts acting up what a nightmare.

I'm going to guess here and say the 3.0 will not be in the form of an update for existing entune systems. I don't care about the hotspot feature.. but i'd like a more responsive system. If you're going to be anal about developing your own system and not include carplay or android auto, then make it more responsive.

    That is fucking awesome!

We bought a 2017 Highlander about a month ago. Went on vacation last week and the cruise was the best thing ever. What I wasn't expecting is that it applies the brakes if someone slows down in front of you. I thought it would just let off the gas. At one point, we came up on a construction zone where traffic was fast, slow, fast, slow...I never touched the gas or brake. It just paced the car in front of me.

The lane departure stuff is a little freaky. If you start to get out of the lane without using your turn signal, it'll nudge you back into your lane. You can drive with your hands off the wheel and it'll stay between the lines on its own.

The one thing I absolutely hate about it is the auto stop/start. When you stop the vehicle, the motor turns off. Hate that shit. You can disable it, but you have to do it every time you get in to drive. I wish there was a way to set the default the opposite. I'm hoping they don't do this on the Tacomas.

The Tacoma won't get the lane departure feature. Only vehicles with electric power steering get that.

I am hoping that with the standard Safety Sense, that the Blind Spot monitor is available across the line as well.

The only thing I would want from that is the adaptive cruise control.

That would be nice, someone posted about the Entune 3.0, connecting multiple phones would be a cool feature also.

Only problem with that is. I don't think it will be a feature that you can update to your current vehicle. I like the remote locking and unlocking, I think that you might be able to remote start the vehicle with it too.

+1 for this. Especially helps for highway driving

Thank you for informing, I was actually really excited to see what this kind of thing would do/be. Sigh.. oh well I love my Tacoma just thought being safer is always nicer.

I agree. I wouldn't be surprised if Entune 3.0 is only for MY2018...

Fwiw its worth I just bought my wife a 17' audi s3, it has a limited auto-brake system, which my wife has reported has stopped the car a couple times when she was slowly pulling into a parking space, possibly stopped the car before the front end touched something? So it seems like for some situations it might be a good thing.
