    Hello Forum,

I noticed for about a week now that when I make a right turn (like when exiting a highway off ramp) there is a humming/droaning noise. It goes away as soon as I straighten out the truck. I put my truck on a lift to get the tires off the ground. When holding the rear axle housing near the left rear wheel & spin the wheel you can feel a slight rumble on the axle housing itself. When you spin the right rear wheel you don't feel anything. My Prerunner has 124,000 miles on it. I replaced the OEM open diff with an OEM LS diff at 55,000 miles & I had the carrier bearings replaced as well at THAT time but it still has the original axle shaft bearings.

@BamaToy1997, do you happen to sell the axle shaft with the bearing already pressed on? If not, what is involved with this? I was able to replace the 3rd member (diff) on my own but that only required pulling out the axles about 3 to 4"'s each to slide out the diff. This job seems much more involved & I don't have a bearing press.

Any info or if there are any 2nd gen tutorials that would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

Essentially the Tacoma, 4Runner, and FJ Cruiser are the same. Here is a video showing the process on the rear. It takes a specialty shop unless you have the materials to build the adapters. I don't sell these as complete units. I looked into it and they were going to cost close to $900 each to build them. lol.

    Thank You @BamaToy1997!
I checked with my local NAPA store & they can remove, then press the new hub bearings on for $30.00 each.
They also sell KOYO brand Wheel bearing assemblies (part #'s ATM 2122451 & ATM 2122452) for $130.00 & the rear wheel seals
    (NOS 22822 x 2) for $7.91 each.

Is there anything else that I need?

I think that is all you should need there! If they have the tools at Napa then I would get them to do it for sure!

Well. Turns out they don't have the specialty tool. I'm just going to buy it. They're nice enough to NOT charge me to press the bearings if I supply them with the Toyota SPECIAL SERVICE TOOL since I do a lot of business with them. They actually offered to do that for me. I wouldn't have asked them to do that. It's not their fault.

Now, @BamaToy1997, do you know where I can get that tool at the cheapest price?
Also, Thank you for your time.

That specialty tool is a couple hundred dollars. Would cost you less to take your axle and bearing assembly to a Toyota dealer and ask them to swap the bearing out! lol.
