Yes this is correct, dynamic air scoop goes over and around the radiator to scoop air coming in the grille. Only functional hood scoop is a fiberglass hood somebody made recently but I don't remember the name

anyone have the AIRAID intake ?

 

Any way one could be converted to be functional? Does it even make sence as you can get more air from the grill?

 

I have the exact same setup......at least for me it gets up and goes!!!! Love it!

For my driving style my 2016 V6 SR5 runs fine. My wife drives a 350 RX Lexus. It will fly but in my opinion (not hers) the Lexus is an overpriced POS. IMO, it is nothing more than a dressed up RAV4. But I don't have to drive the crappy thing (although very little road noise at any speed) and she feels the same about my Tacoma. She is only 5'0" and you should have seen her trying to drive my 12' Tundra TRD.

If I am seeing this right, I would have to buy a new hood, or could I convert my sport hood?

 

Do you have the one with the air intake behind the grill as well?

 

yes its an all new hood made of fiberglass. Its much lighter but wont do shit in an accident so dont bother crash testing it

 

Buy a tundra, I doubt you will notice any difference from an intake. But hey its worth a shot.

I figured somebody would say that its all about personal preference and I love the way it sounds. In my defense the video cuts out all the low notes... if you listen on something with some bass youll hear some of what I mean, but its a little different in person

 

Sounds great to me! and you said you notice better power on both ends? low and high end?

 

Id say its smoother on the low end for sure, and maybe just a tad bit more power but on the high end theres definitely more power! I also noticed slightly better fuel economy after the install of the Y pipe as well, until I started getting a check engine light which forces the engine to run a more conservative tune and blocks off some of the power. Will be experimenting with vibrant o2 sensor spacers with different size block off plates. Ill update you guys when I find the right size plate

Side note: The CEL was likely caused by the combo of much higher intake flow from the AFE and dynamic scoop, combined with a very de-restricted exhaust setup. I have checked every connection on the exhaust after driving 500 miles on this setup and there are no leaks, not even at the flanges. If you don't have ALL of these mods then you may be fine, however, I have to report that the CEL came on after correctly installing the URD y pipe so take that into consideration. I believe it is the combo of all parts that caused the CEL and not any one of them alone, but the URD y pipe WAS what set it off. I will still update when I figure out what size of block off plate works with the vibrant o2 sensor spacer to get the 'CEL' to go 'see ya later'.

 

Nice... Sounds alot like mine (except I ran all the way to the tip). What size Magnaflow are you running? In/Out diameter?

Managed to get a couple of quick videos for my exhaust the other day. I'll apologize before hand for the cell phone vids. Best to listen to the videos in the truck via bluetooth, of with ear buds. Hard to get the bass/deep tones on crappy computer speakers or phone.

Interesting... Haven't had any codes thrown yet. *Knock on wood*. And it sounds like we're both running a somewhat similar setup. But then again, I probably haven't put 50 miles on it since getting everything Installed a week ago.

Will definitely look to see what you come up with for a solution, just in case.

 

Seems to be relatively hit or miss from what ive read and found out! Either way it might be good info in the future if anybody wants to avoid having a CEL for their legitimately worn out old cats! Could be a 60$ fix instead of whatever the cost of two new cats is probably 1200 or so
