    Just curious.

Leased here because I didn't have a trade-in and could keep my payments for the '17 OR under $450 for 36 mos and just love the idea of a 3 year trial period. I do plan on buying it out at the end of 3 years though... Unless you're ballin' or intend to immediately (and permanently) mod, I see leasing as a win-win really.

That said, I've already scratched nearly every panel, scraped my exhaust at the tcase crossover, and am on pace to exceed my mileage by thousands...and still haven't received my plates. :mudding::frusty:

I bought because I plan to drive it for 10+ years. May never sell it honestly but depends how much it's worth when I need to get something else. I also already have and will continue to mod it heavily.

Lease gas and go, everything else the dealer does. Maybe buy the next one in 2019. See how good the frame and everything else holds up. Love the 2017 I have right now though.

Bought because Tacomas hold their value. If I were to lease a vehicle it would be something that depreciates really fast like a BMW or Mercedes. Idk why I just feel like it was the right choice.

You end up paying quite a bit more for the thing if you lease instead of buy. If you can't afford the payments on a purchase, leasing is a way to get you into the thing, but honestly your payments on a lease should be much less than $450.

Bought. I tend to keep vehicles a long time. Had my last truck for over 15 years. The only reason I can think of that I wouldn't have this one just as long would be if I needed a full size. As it is now the Tacoma suits me perfect.

That is definitely true, though I'm willing to take that tradeoff for the (relatively) risk-free 3 year break-in period. My payments are quite a bit less than $450, but nowhere near jdoggie's deal. Since I plan to financing after three years (unless the thing 'splodes on me), I'm not too concerned with the lowest monthly payment since I'll just owe the difference anyways. Just want a payment I could afford. Oakland Toyota wouldn't deal much since they only had one on the lot (the exact one I wanted). I was also returning my Subaru lease there and can walk there from my house so I kept my business there out of convenience sake.

I also plan on keeping my truck till it dies.

Bought it because that's what I've been always doing since 1980 when I bought my first new car.
I usually keep my cars long time and really take care of them well. And when the time comes to sell, I always get top $$ from private parties.
Here is my 1998 Integra LS with 170+K miles and I just sold for $4000.

that's a lot of damn money for something you don't own. idk what the OP means balling to buy, seems you need to be balling to drive a vehicle for 3 years and after that nothing to show for it.

apparently people thing this is a great deal too, hm.

so OP what does your agreement and model and allowed miles come out being?

The real question is, what is the residual at lease end?

$20 - $25k over 3 years. I'd have to look at my lease agreement again. Residual value will be higher than the amount owed though, so at the end of the lease I could still sell the car rather than return it and recover a few thousand.

I also forgot to mention that the dealer was running a special with better financing rates to lease (0.9%) than to buy so that basically offset the additional amount I'll be paying if I end up financing out the balance at the end of the lease.
