    Hey guys,

So I got my new adjustable bilsteins installed and I can't explain what happened. After installing everything correctly (yes everything was installed correctly) with stock coils, I measured 4 inches of lift (on the 2.5 setting). Called the guy at toytec and sent him pictures. He said everything looked great but maybe it looked like the previous owner put fj coils on there. I am not sure if that's true because they seem like the regular stock trd coils. Anyways he recommended setting them at a lower setting, so I set them at 1.75 and got 2.5 inches lift. Can anyone explain this? Also when I got the alignment done, the tech said everything looked perfect in there. Pictures are below:IMG_4250.jpg

Quadruple checked, and the perch is oriented correctly.

I like those control arms! To my knowledge most trucks don't use TRD coils, probably has something to do with the billys being intended for regular springs. My billys did around 2.5" of lift but I had regular prerunner springs not that fancy TRD stuff.

Thanks man! I checked with bilsteins performance center and they said that I should still get the correct heights with the trd coils. Not sure what's going on.

I heard someone say once that when you slap springs on a car its anyone's guess where it'll end up. Run it 4"!

Interesting. Do your coils look like mine? The only reason I ask is the guy at Toytec thought that I might have FJ Cruiser coils. I'm not sure though because I have seen other pictures of TRD coils and they look like the ones I have. Also, do you have the same set up?

I'm just worried about CV angles at that height and I don't want to throw in the Diff drop I have sitting in the garage. (Bought that before all the horror stories. haha). Also, not enough in the budget for a new leaf pack.

Also, have you had any problems with suspension or anything? Just confused why we got this height with that setting..

The suggested lift heights are averages, supposedly. In reality, they are the heights for 4x4 DCLB V6 Tacos. Any lighter configuration will get more lift. Your coils look correct. I have since replaced my old setup with OME 885 coils on 5100s set on the lowest perch - same lift as stock coils on 1.75 setting, but a better overall ride IMO.

Gotchya. Thinking about getting those coils as well in a couple months. So they gave you 2.5 inches total? Was thinking of also getting some top plate spacers and a taco lean spacer to correct for that when I get new coils. Thoughts?

I had a lean spacer on the first setup. Then I replaced my body mount bushings and had reverse lean - driver side high. When I put in the 885 coils, I also put 1/4" spacers on both sides. The two sides are dead even now.

Did you measure 4inches after install or after driving a few miles so everything settles?

After instal. When I took it down, it was three inches and then it settled to 2.5. AM buying OME or Eibach coils soon though.

I have 5100 and 886 coils on my dclb. While the ride quality isnt bad theres limited down travel. Just food for thought. Id love to swap to 887s.
