    Howdy Tacoma World,

I have some regular travel Icon 2.5 Coilovers for sale. They are in rough cosmetic shape, but function fine. I bought them second hand. The original owner said they had 10,000 miles on them. I only had them on the truck 500 miles before upgrading to extended travel set up.

    The bad (see pics):
    • The original Icon 650lb, 13inch coils are rattle can painted dark red, the paint is scratched in several areas.
    • The shock bodies have some rust, not too bad, though.
    • The adjustment ring is chewed up from using power tools to adjust the lift setting. They seem to function fine, and I suspect you could get replacement parts from Icon. The lock nut is also missing, but I wouldn't worry about it, I don't think they flimsy thing does anything anyway. For the life of me, I can not adjust the ring up or down. You may need to compress the coil and reseat it. They gave me 2 inches of lift with a double cab, v6, 4x4, with a 125lb plate bumper.
    • There is some putting on the shafts where they enter the shock mount. They look completely fine where the travel occurs.

    The good:
    • They ride fine.
    • No leaks.
    • Comes with a spanner wrench, sway bar relocate, and a sticker
    • I’m selling them for $400 shipped.

    Rocco

Perhaps there is a locking set screw that wasn't un-fastened before adjusting the height of the springs.

    Ding Ding Ding!!! Correct.

I thought you guys would get a kick out of that at my expense. They were stuck, I dropped them off with a guy, and things didn't work out so well.

The most frustrating part is, I'm no stranger to a wrench, and do most all the work on my truck. I was just at a complete loss of cranking those rings down, and now, here we are.

On my new extended travel icons, its a piece of cake.

Not that you would need this but you (or the next buyer) could take them to Icon and have them rebuilt.
I'd file off the material rolled over at a minimum or even better use a dremel tool.

Those look totally salvageable but for what Icon would charge to fix them up might as well buy new. This is beyond their regular "rebuild" where they don't do shit except change oil and seals.
So this is a good deal for a DIYer.

OP, might want to state for any buyer if those are the original 650lbs 13" springs.

Thanks! Both good points. Regarding a rebuild, there used to be a guy on TW that did them for half the price as Icon. I've never used his service, and I'm not even sure if he is still doing it.

Yes, they are the original 650lb 13 inch springs from Icon. I've updated the original post to include that.

It never hurts to call Icon.
Had a co worker crack his body cap off of his driver shock and Icon was able to replace it.

But yes I do agree it's an OK deal for someone who doesn't mind some repair work.

Did you back out the set screw before trying to adjust the preload? If someone wants to try and save these I have a set of 650lb springs with less 5k miles on them, that I'll make them a deal on.
