Rotational area passed us over. No twister I could see, but some decent hail. We'll survey the damage in daylight, but nothing too bad.

Anyone interested in a diff bearing mod day? Randy, justin,Garrick have all reached out to me to borrow my tool. So I was seeing if anyone else wants/needs to get it done that way everyone can get it done together. I'll be there to help out but hoping it will give some of you a chance to learn how to tear apart the front end, change a cv, and ultimately fix that crappy needle bearing in the front diff.

Post up if you are interested

Saw a built up white second gen on chippewa this morning. Had the same bumper as chandlerdoom.

Oh and a red Baja at the budweiser factory.

Interested lol. I've read really good reviews that this bearing pretty much eliminates all front diff vibrations after lifting

Well when you pull out the needle bearing you'll understand how it can easily fail, this problem is not limited to lifted vehicles. I still find it funny that they use a solid bearing on the passenger side and needle on the driver side, almost as if its a testing process to see which will hold up better

I'd definitely be interested in this as long as I have some time to order the part before mod day

Well if you plan on doing it then get the part ordered, or get everyone together that is going to buy one and all order together to split the shipping cost. It comes to $10 shipping, kinda steep for a $60 part so probably worthwhile to split up the shipping cost

I'm not sure why Toyota does this. Like the different spark plugs on each side of the motor. I've never read any real justification for their madness.

I really have no idea what that mod would do/improve, I'm still learning everything. So that being said, is that something I should get done sooner than later? Or wait a bit?

It a PITA. ECGS recommends drive for 30 minutes then let it cool down for 30 minutes. For 500 miles.

Personal choice, the needle bearing fails not catastrophic but in a annoying grinding what is that sound/ vibration way. Your likely good as mine didn't start to be really noticeable until 60k miles, but its not like it has a negative effect so its a personal choice until its actually needed.

But if you feel like learning how to tear into the front end and how it all works then feel free to join whenever this happens

Thankfully at the time of break in I was working 50 miles away so I drove to work let it cool down for the day, drove home and let it cool down for the night. Only the first couple drives are short and afterwards you can drive 50 miles or so. I recommend changing the fluids again 500-1000miles after the break in fluid change to get the rest of the junk out
