I don't know what your building code says, but are you going to add any blocks midway in that wall?

    A) it would give you a horizontal place to anchor things along the wall like cabinets if its in the kitchen area.

    B) seperate the insulated area so that cold air doesn't circulate in your walls.

    C) it reminds me too much of balloon construction, which was common in the 1920's. These houses were notorious when they caught fire since the walls went from basement to attic. This would add an extra layer of fire protection.

The tall wall does get mid span fire blocking , yes

It is only one story , no attic

In our area, studs over 8' in height are required to have blocking to keep them stable. Fire blocking (in stairwells for one example) are required, even if the stud height is under 8'.

I think he was speaking about 'after-the-fact' electrical renovations.... not new construction.

This. Ran a 2nd switch for my kitchen lights and it wasn't fun. And we didn't have the blocking like that.

Yup. Fireblocking, blocks the entire cavity, being on edge is simply stability blocking in our area.

Had a change this morning to the rough opening for the zero clearance fireplace that required us to cut out the king stud pack and header , that was awesome

Plus is was a degree above freezing and raining all day

Hence the pour the slab after the roof is on strategy

Yup, wife changed a couple doorways in my house after framing...exterior load bearing headers ...are pretty much the worse to take apart.:)

The slab in my basement wasnt poured until we had the roof finished and we are shoreline CT. Framing did happen in the winter but it was my understanding that the slab is always poured after the framing and roof are done either way.

Framing looks great so far @OZ-T

There won't be any fishing wires in this house later since the majority of the house has no attic or rafter cavities and the whole house is a slab

With the electrical codes the way they are who could have a need for alterations to the electrical other than exterior lighting and/or 3 way switch?
Are they putting in CAT5E and/or audio wire for every room?

Please tell me that 2" or better foam board is being used under and around the slab.

I see too many use foil backed bubble wrap. That shit is worthless for keeping the heat from radiating down. I would hate to see all that rock steal the slab heat.
