At 164k city miles on my 98 the plastic part that connects to the return hose snapped off as I parked it in the road one day. Undid the clamp and clamped it short. Drove it for another 500 miles before it got a new one.

Also your truck should come stock with an aluminum radiator. I've torn apart alot of cars for scrap and never have I seen a plastic one. Although I did see one completely steel one on a very old air conditioner.

If I could get what I paid for my truck back I'd be very tempted. I could sell my F250 for $10k and be sitting really nice in a 2015 F150 Lariat.

Car sales are at all time high.

I remember getting these "We are offering to buy your car for X amount" letters from dealers since I started driving, which was a loonngg time ago. Its not a new thing, its just a marketing gimmick to get you out of your old car and into a new one, in turn generating revenue.

I remember when I brought my truck home brand new in 2010. Less than a week of ownership and some guy comes and rings my door bell asking to buy it. I'm like "it's not for sale." Like seriously dude do you see a for sale sign on it? She's mine 'till the wheels fall off.

In between my second gens I had a nice black trd model first gen, year 2000. V6 manual, only had 80k on it. Guy at a gas station offered me 14k for it. That was somewhere around 2014. I took it and sold the truck to him.

Ha. As I was opening this thread, my wife was reading a letter from our local Toyota dealer, offering us $9500 for her 07 Sequoia.

People ask me to sell them my 01 Stepside a couple of times a month. Really. Its bizarre.

Sez you. You either love 'em or hate 'em. There doesn't seem to be any in between reactions.

And yes.... people offer to buy it at least once a month.

One of my biggest pet peeves while driving and in everyday life would have to be drunk people! Not drunk drivers! Not even the drunk customers I inevitably encounter in the parking lot of Puck or the drunk people all over Doylestown on a Friday or Saturday!

I'm talking about drunk people I have the misfortune of making a petty driving SNAFU in front of, while completely sober, who feel the need to lecture me, and this goes back to my feelings on "being policed by people are NOT the police." I have had two of these encounters so far...

I may have already mentioned the first incident on this thread, but here it is again:

It was a warm night in 2014 or 2015, well after midnight. I was stone cold sober but in a very jovial mood for reasons I can't remember. Who the hell needs a reason to be happy, anyway?

I pulled into my parents neighborhood blasting Springsteen and literally drifted my Tacoma into a left turn. I squealed the tires and fishtailed the Tacoma. I noticed a guy standing on the sidewalk to my right just glaring at me. I had both windows down and the rear slider open, and I stopped at the stop sign, he said something like "Slow down, buddy!" He was slurring his words somewhat and even if he wasn't drunk he was definitely buzzed. I turned around to look at him through the open rear slider and politely but firmly said "Don't tell me how to drive!" He started to say something, but I floored it and did a nice little burnout as I accelerated. I thought that was the end of it...

I pulled into my parents' driveway, locked up the truck, and went inside. My parents were away for the weekend. I then realized I'd forgotten something outside. I don't remember if this was the newspaper, the mail, or the garbage; or if I'd actually left something in my truck.

We were still living in the townhouse back then, and it was an end unit. The driveway and 2-car garage were right in front, and a long sidewalk led to the front door, which was located on the side of the house. I stepped out the front door, started walking towards the front of the house, and that's when I saw him...

The same guy I'd basically told to mind his own business and then demonstrated my limited-slip differential in front of was standing directly across the street from my house. I don't know if he'd actually followed me, but he obviously recognized the silver Tacoma with the black rims sitting in the driveway and was staring at the truck. Then he'd realized I'd come back outside and turned his attention from my truck to me. He just stood there staring me down for about a minute or so, and right when I was about to tell him that he'd better keep walking if he knew what was good for him, he seemingly read my mind, walked off, and disappeared. Never saw him again...

I lived in that neighborhood for almost 9 years. There 386 houses, and while I did not actually know everybody, I had a good idea of who lived there and who didn't. I'd never seen that guy before and I never saw him again...

The second incident took place on a Friday or Saturday night sometime in the summer of 2016. Puck was slammed and the ice machine couldn't keep up. My boss send me to the supermarket with her credit card and I loaded the bed of the Tacoma up with bags of ice. My boss had basically told me to be as fast I could without driving dangerously. There is an alleyway right before the entrance to the Puck parking lot, and I used this as a shortcut. I stopped right before Pine Street to make sure the coast was clear, and then I floored it across Pine Street and hauled ass into the Puck parking lot. Unbeknownst to me, a whole group of people was hanging out drinking on the front porch of a house immediately to my right, and they witnessed the whole thing. I drove up to Puck, backed into the manager's spot, and opened the tailgate. The other barbacks and one of the bouncers helped me unload. It was after the first trip when I came back out to the Tacoma that I found this random guy standing next to my truck. I had no idea where the hell he had come from at first, and I didn't have time to deal with him. After all I was clocked in and had a job to do. He started giving me shit about how I had been "driving too fast" and had "gone airborne." I started to give him a piece of my mind. At one point I asked him "Who are you again?" His response was "Don't you worry about who I am."

The aforementioned bouncer who was helping unload the truck told me to just ignore him. That's what I did, but when I came back out to the truck for more ice, this guy was was still there! Not only that he was leaning against my recently replaced left rear fender, arms folded on the side of the bed, and resting his head on his arms like it was his truck! I told this guy to get the hell off of my truck and mind his own business, an argument ensued, and that's when he told me he'd been on the front porch of the aforementioned house I'd driven past. He had obviously been drinking. The bouncer got between us to make sure a fight didn't break out, and then this guy leans against my Tacoma and rests his head on my bed. I screamed at him to get off of my Tacoma and just walk away, and after a bit more back and forth, that's what he did...

Later that night after I'd clocked out, I took my boss's dog for a walk and went back to the guy's house to apologize, but also explain why I got so pissed. They were still drinking on the front porch, though surprisingly the guy who'd actually confronted me seemed less intoxicated... This guy also rented this house and was the sole occupant...

We got to talking, both apologized, and now we're pretty much friends...

I am very sorry, but I am really beginning to feel like I've worn out my welcome on this forum, and I am very close to deleting EVERYTHING on my "Charlie's Stories/Asperger's Thread" and just becoming an ordinary member...

    Is that what people want?
